5th July 2011

Football fans from all over the globe have been left reeling from the news that Manchester United's long serving manager Sir Alex Ferguson has retired. The news come out of the blue with no one expecting or foreseeing Ferguson retiring so soon. However with the Red Devils now the most decorated team in England and overtaking Liverpool as the most successful team in the League it seem's that maybe Sir Alex wanted to leave at the top of his game. The wiley Scotsman has seen his tenure at the club unparalled and seen as something spectacular. With so many football clubs disposing of managers when things get tough man Utd have shown that through loyalty and belief that one man can create so much and create it with numerous teams.

Sir Alex has enjoyed working with the best such as Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney. He has picked up countless trophies, awards and even a knighthood on his way and has given the world and especially English football so much entertainment.

Whilst the news is still raw many Man Utd fans will be wondering who the club has in line to take over the reigns from Sir Alex and who if anyone has the pedigree to follow in the Scotsman's footsteps. There have been whispers over the last year or so of Jose Mourinho putting himself in the frame but with Real Madrid keen to hold onto the outspoken Portuguese this may not come to fruitition.

Manchester United spokesman Lloyd Ingram stated that the official website will anounce more of Ferguson's resignation in more detail later

Now with the news confirmed by the club it has left many fans feeling uneasy as the the powers that be will soon be looking for a new man to take charge. With many fans only ever seeing Sir Alex in charge of the club it seems the aura around the club has become one that is shrouded in uncertainty, excitement, sadness and nervousness.

Manchester United Unveil New Manager

9th July 2011

After the shock news that rumbled the world of football, Manchester United were now left with the unenviable task of replacing a man who had all but cemeted the clubs place in history. It fell to club chairman David Gill and the clubs owners the Glazier family to decide on who would best replace the legendary Scot Sir Alex Ferguson. Over the last few days statements had been released from the club stating that the club were well underway in searching for their new man and that while they had not been rushed into selecting a new leader they were very much in the final stages of negotiations with someone they described as the 'perfect aquisition'.

10th July 2011

Today Manchester United have unveiled their new manager to the world and to say it's a suprise is an understatement! David Gill who had organised a press conference at the clubs Carrington training ground was sat inside a room along with about 30-40 members of the media and looked like he was relishing the prospect of unveiling Manchester United's newest manager. As the media waited in anticipation and with the whole world watching David Gill rose from his seat and made an announcement

"I know you are all excited to find out who we have selected to take the the helm at this illustrious club and I know you will all be very happy with our decision, so without further a do here is Manchester United's new manager... Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!"

As the media fell into silence for a short while their exuberence soon got the better of them as they fumbled about, scribbling into notepads and trying in vein to be the first to get a question answered by the new manager and club icon.

After about 25 minutes of answering questions Solskjaer admitted that he would have to rush off to attend meetings with the board over transfer funds and transfer targets but promised the fans that he would strive to keep the club at the top of it's game and ensure that the winning mentality would continue.

As fans gushed about the appointment of the baby faced Norwegian it seemed that many had overlooked the inexperience of Solskjaer who had only every managed in his native Norway with former club Molde. He had however won them the league trophy in his debut season in charge.

With the changes at Manchester United seemingly completed fans were now looking foward to seeing some transfer news and expecting some signings.
