Swapping Swansea City For Tottenham Hotspur

Swans recrord massive win against Newcastle, with Monk supplying the goals.

players_4850.jpg

It's been a dream week for centre back Gary Monk. After the swans smashed Cystal Palace 6-1 during the week and Gary Monk claiming his first senior hatrick from the back, he told FourFourTwo magazine that he thinks he can go on and get more goals.

He certaintly wasn't lying. The strong, commanding centre back went on in his scoring trait to make it 5 goals in two games, scoring two powerful headers against ex-premier league side Newcastle.

He couldn't believe his luck and nearly made it 6 in 2 games but the crossbar saved Newcastle's day. The final score was Swansea 2-1 Newcastle.

The swans move on to Plymouth on tuesday night, aiming to keep up there winning ways and the swans have a massive reason to win, they are currently in 9th place but fall 3 points off 5th place.

Could swans get into the playoffs with there next game?

Match Report From Plymouth (Plymouth 1-2 Swansea City. FT)

The swans travelled to Plymouth aiming to break into the top 6. The match was a slow starter with a penalty to the Swans only opening the game a small bit. Trundle slotted home from the spot and made it 1-0. Darren Pratley had the easiet of tap-ins for the Swans and made it 2-0. Plymouth grabbed a goal on 69 minutes, but it wasn't enough. The swans didn't make the top 6 but cut the gap too only 1 point and move up to 8th. When will the Swansea wins end?

Swans' form dips at the crucial stages.

jack.gif

Swansea City's recent form has dipped not winning in 5 games, and picking up only 1 point. The swans will work hard to get back on track and travel to Q.P.R on Saturday, looking to get back on winning ways with 3 points.

Although they haven't won in 5, the Swans camp is still confident as ever. The club captain, Gary Monk told the official website -

"we know our recent perfomances haven't been good enough. we need to step our game up, however it's only a small dip in form. It happens to the best of teams. We will look to get back on track against Q.P.R"

Updates on the game will follow.

As promised, the swans bounced back to winning ways against Q.P.R in great fashion. A 3-1 victory ensured the swans embarrasment with two goals from on-loan striker Febian Brandy & Leon Britton. The swans dominated possession and muchly deserved the victory.

Swans end season in 9th position.

coca-cola-championship.jpg

Swansea rounded up there first season of the Coca Cola Championship and ending in 9th place. The Swans set a target at the start of the season to end in the top half of the table, something they have succeeded to do.

Although they have managed to meet the targets, Manager Daniel Carter has spoken for the first time about there final position. Carter said -

"Although we met our targets for the season, at one time we sat in 4th place of the table in the playoff places and we played good football so to end in 9th place is a little upsetting for me. I feel our team was good enough to pose a threat to the teams above but it obviously didn't happen. Hopefully if im here for another season, we will possibly break into the top 6."

Swansea will now wait for the next season and will do it all again next year.

Updates from next year's pre-season matches will be posted when the time comes!

Heres to another successful season..

It's another season, which means more transfer speculation. Swansea City prepare for their pre-season matches and having signed only Lee Trundle and Daniel Bogdonavic the team looks like it could need a few improvements.

The swans will have more targets to look for this year, with the added budget from chairman, Huw Jenkins, after new TV rights come into place.

The swans boss looks to spend the budget and could see new faces around the Swansea City camp. But who will it be?

Sharp_Billy_599270.jpg

Swans have confirmed the signing of Sheffield United striker, Billy Sharp. The Swans sign the 24 year old on a 3 year contract at The Liberty Stadium. Speaking to the clubs official website, Billy Sharp and Daniel Carter told the website the following -

Billy Sharp - "It's a dream come true to join such a big team like Swansea. I spent last year at Sheffield United, and they're a well respected club however when Swansea approached for me it was a easy decision. I enjoy the way Swansea play, and that's one the reasons I joined them. They are the Arsenal of the championship.

Daniel Carter - "It's great to finally get my man. We have worked hard to sign Billy and I'm now glad I can call him a Swansea City player. He's a type of player who can find the net, as well as bring others into play. I'm really glad." Carter Added, "We have spent a fair bit of our transfer budget now, taking our total spendings up just above 4M. I think our team is now good enough for the challenge ahead and I doubt the board and my staff will be looking to bring in any permanent signings although we could see a few loan moves.

Swans Celebrate At Sheffield.

Swansea City today celebrated the opening of there Championship season with a fantastic 5-1 victory against Sheffield Wednesday. The swans travelled to Hillsborough expecting a victory, but not as great as the one they got. It was a fantastic day for The Swans who dominated the game from start to finish, with all the possession and slick passing. Congratulations to Swansea City & Daniel Carter. Daniel Carter told sky sports -

I am delighted with the way we won the match today. We worked so hard to get that victory, the players, the board and the backroom staff, we deserved it. I'm happy with the effort the lads showed us, and the way our new players fitted into the team as well. It's sometimes hard to come to a new team but the lads haven't moaned and they showed great respect and determination for Swansea City.

Swansea triumph against Walsall in the League Cup first round.. but leave it late
Swansea 3-1 Walsall

Swansea may of won the game 3-1, but they didn't half leave it late. The swans went 1-0 up through a Lee Holmes own goal.
Walsall got a goal back through Troy Deeney. The match stayed 1-1 until extra time. Billy Sharp came to Swansea's rescue at 102 minutes, taking the ball down neatly in the box and slotting it into the bottom left corner.
Swansea' grabbed some confidence and the game was put beyond doubt after a 118 minute goal to secure the win from Daniel Bogdanovic. A Special mention goes out to the man of the match, Leon Britton who set up the last goal and played very well in right midfield role and the swans were saved from embarrassment in the end. We caught up with Leon Britton after the match -

Leon Said - It's a great achievement to win man of the match, against any opponent. I feel the team played well today, although we got off to a slow start. I was happy to see Sharpy getting his first goal of the season and hopefully he can go on and get a lot more goals. The camp is buzzing and we can't wait for the next match.

Swans smash Blackpool as run goes on...
Blackpool 0-4 Swansea

_46190709_swansea_celebrate.jpg

Swans Celebrate Victory At Blackpool

Swansea smashed Blackpool to keep up there 100% form in the League and Cup. The swans have been in sharp form this year, having notched up 3 league wins and one cup win. The Swans have put together a strong team spirit over the last couple of games and it seems to have been showing. Carter has taken Swans to the top of the league with his first 4 games of the 2011 season but has admitted it would be far to early to start looking at the league table, but is enjoying it never the less. Carter caught up with Sky Sports this evening -

It's a brilliant feeling to win the matches as we have. The team deserve it very much and have worked very hard to get where they are now. However it would be criminal to look at the table so early, we will just take each game as they come and hopefully we can keep our winning ways up for as long as possible.
Swans play Leicester in there next league game. Updates to follow.

Swans Notch Up An Extra Victory In 84 Minutes.
Swansea 2-0 Leicester City

_46449501_lopez_off_huw.jpg

Swans goalscorer, Jordi Lopez.

The swans added an extra victory to their name at home to Leicester City this evening. The game looked to be heading to a 0-0 draw with both teams playing respectively well. However Swansea Manager, Daniel Carter made 3 changes in 5 minutes bringing on 3 strikers. The both teams pressed on to get the victory but it was Swansea who put the sword through the Leicester defence. A Cross game in from the left back area, which found Jordi Lopez on the edge of the area to hit a half volley straight into the bottom left corner of the net, and with 84 minutes on the clock it looked like The Swans, 100% record was going to remain intact. The swans made the victory safe in 88 minutes when Billy Sharp struck a 25 hard strike, which unfairly deflected off Richie Wellens and straight into the net. The Swans won't be complaining and they make it 5 wins in 5.

Swans hold on to claim another victory
Coventry 2-3 Swansea

Coventry+City+v+Portsmouth+FA+Cup+3rd+Round+gkFJGvPGXx6l.jpg

Coventry can't believe losing to The Swans after hitting crossbar 3 times

Coventry were somewhat unfortunate to get anything out of their fixture with Swansea. The Swans went on to claim all 3 points at the Ricoh Arena which left Coventry in dis-pair. The Swans looked to be cruising to victory after going 3-0 up before half time. Coventry managed to get a goal back before half time when ex-Rangers striker Novo latched onto a through ball to slot home from 10 yards. Coventry got back into the game in the second half, and piled on the pressure. They got a second goal back through a corner and things turned a little worse for Swansea. The pressure piled up on the swans and it only looked a matter of time before Coventry got a goal back, However The Swans held on and managed to secure an extra three points.

The Swans are currently at the top of the Coca Cola Championship table but now The Swans move on to a very tough game next with Ex-Premier League side Stoke City.

Swansea City Finally Loose Against Stoke City
Swansea 2-3 Stoke City

_44687004_trundle_gett416.jpg

Lee Trundle can't believe hitting the crossbar then the post from the re-bound

Swansea have finally lost their first league game of the season to ex-premier league side Stoke City. The Swans had a tough task to win the game with players such as Dave Kitston, Faye and Ricardo Fuller all in the line up for Stoke. The Swans started the match in brilliant fashion, going 1-0 up through a Gary Monk header. Stoke attacked and got a goal back through Dave Kitson. Play went on and the swans pressed for another goal which came on 35 minutes through Joe Allen. The swans took the lead for the second time. It was then up to Stoke to get a goal, which they got just before half time through Ricardo Fuller. The Swans played well through the second half with Trundle smashing the cross bar from a corner and then hitting the post from the re-bound. It looked to be that sort of day for the swans and it did show when Dave Kitson got the winner on 76 minutes. Although the swans lost their first game, they can be proud for the way they played against a ex-premier league side. Daniel Carter caught up with Sky Sports after the game and he said -

"It's disappointing to loose after we played so well and going a goal up twice. The lads are unhappy with the loss however you only have to look at the quality of their team with the likes of Kitson, Faye. We should of capitalised on the leads we had but we now move on to Palace to see if we can get the 3 points."

It's now up to the swans to get back on winning ways against Crystal Palace in their next fixture.

It was a tough choice to do, but I thought with manchester city's funds and buying stupid amounts of players, they will then look to send out youngsters on loan more than Chelsea would.

Bogdanovic Double Sends' Swans Back To Winning Ways
Q.P.R 1-2 Swansea

Daniel_Bogdanovic_6_925422a.jpg

A Bogdanovic Double has sent the Swans back to winning ways in their away fixture against Q.P.R. The swans started the match with no movement, lack of drive and a QPR goal was always threatening. On 34 minutes the goal did come, a cross whipped in found Rowlands at the back post. 1-0 QPR. The swans fought back and put together some neat passes, and finally got their goal when Bogdanovic lost his man at the back post to power header the equaliser. The swans fought on, and on 69 minutes, that man again. Bogdanovic stuck a sweet shot from 25 yards which rattled the back of the net and sent Swans on their way back to winning games.

Congratulations also go out to Bogdanovic for winning the man of the match award.
-----
The swans now go on to face Oldham in the cup, and things look like Daniel Carter will give some of his youth players a run out against the League One Outfit.

Second String Swans Team Smash Oldham In Cup Match
Swansea 4-1 Oldham

Stephen Dobbie And Jazz Richards
A Second string Swansea side have smashed Oldham 4-1 in their League Cup match. The swans put out reserve team players such as Jazz Richards, Marcos Painter, Kerry Morgan and Stephen Dobbie and the swans came out victories by some margin. This can only mean confidence for the swans boss and must give some hope to the reserve players who are slowly breaking into the team.

The swans return to league action next with a tough home match against Nottm. Forrest.

Nice story
You have the same name as Coach Carter :)

Carter silences the bluebirds with a easy victory
Swansea 2-0 Cardiff

_44743602_card_swan203.jpg

Swansea City are this afternoon celebrating a brilliant victory against fierce rivals, Cardiff. The swans dominated from start to finish and went a goal up through Hiedar Helguson. Helguson has only played 3 times this season, scoring the one goal, but what a way to double his tally to score it against the rivals. The swans pressed on and took shot after shot, when finally James Coppinger cut inside from the right, stuck a sweet shot on his left foot from the edge of the area which found the top corner of the net. The swans fans went crazy, and the chants were clear to hear. "You'll never beat the jacks" is what was being sung from the stands. The swans remain top of the league with only one loss to their name. A great victory for the Swans.

The swans fans will undoubtedly make the evening a night to remember, with already fans streaming into local pubs and nightclubs only 30 minutes after the final whistle. Congratulations to Daniel Carter and The Swansea City team on their victory.

Swans come back from two goals down and claim superb victory
Birmingham 2-3 Swansea

Birmingham-v-Swansea-Radhi-Jaidi-Joe-Allen-2_1698900.jpg

Swansea' Striker Challanges Birmingham's Defender

Swansea have sent out a clear signal to the rest of the league saying "we are no mugs". The swans took on ex-premier league side, Birmingham City and things started off really bad for the current league leaders. The swans went a goal down by a Christian Benitez which flew straight past the save of Dorus De Vries. The swans never looked to get anything from the game, and this showed when the swans defence was cut open and Benitez claimed his second. The swans managed to pull a goal back before half time, a corner was crossed in and struck home by Darren Pratley. The swans loosing 2-1 at half time.

The second half started brighter for The Swans, and few passes caused Birmingham some problems. Quick passing led to a through ball for Jordi Lopez to get onto before he got taken down inside the box by Stuart Parnarby. PENALTY! Up stepped 5 ft 4, Leon Britton to cooley slot home the penalty. The swans had come back from 2-0 to be on level terms. The game got nearer the 90 minute mark, before a quick turn from Jordi Lopez again allowed him to run free into the box and yet again, Stuart Parnarby brought him down for another Swansea penalty. Up stepped left back Silva this time, who drilled the penalty home and secured The Swans win.

The swans mean business this year, and this sent out a clear signal to all the othet teams in the Coca Cola Championship.
