Bordeaux
Goodbye Loic :(
Ligue 1 - 23/24

Last seasons heroics didn't live on as the Europa League really hit us all hard and our Ligue 1 performances suffered, we were 16th in December and the board said goodbye to Loic Remy, much to the dismay of many of us. He was replaced with Remi Garde who had some serious experience.

My first season in the Europa League ended after the group stages unfortunately. It was stupidly close and Loic Remy needed qualification to save his job pretty much and Goal Difference threw us out, allowing Lokomotive Moscow and AZ Alkmaar to advance ahead of us.

I enjoyed my time in the European ties, I didn't quite enjoy the Russian fans but I played very well throughout group stages and 1 of the qualifiers. It was a good chance to show off and I did what I could do.

Unfortunately, my league performances this season have really been poor. Goal droughts and awful team performances have meant a real lack in opportunities.

My season was also cut short with my second lengthy injury of my career.

Despite being described a poacher, I spent a lot of time playing just behind the striker. I played okay this season, but nothing on what I wish it could have been. Hopefully Bordeaux can avoid relegation without me..

This kid forced me into a deeper position since the new boss played one up top, only scoring 2 goals in 28 appearances..

Slowly thinking I might want to look for another challenge, but we shall see.

The Summer of 2024

The Summer of 2024 was a big one, there was the Euro Championships for one. I wasn't to be selected, which was never a surprise but I did travel over to Italy to watch France. Which went alright!

It was also a big summer as I contemplated my future. I wouldn't mind leaving France but ultimately I don't want another season in Ligue 2.

They finished mid-table last season, they've shown interest so I'll take it. Hopefully something else comes available. I really wouldn't mind making a move away from France, I want to play in Europe or win things! Times ticking though.

AS Saint-Etienne was also interested, another mid-table side without continental qualification.

However, the Ligue 2 season was approaching and I was struggling to set any moves up. Maybe it was meant to be, I'll just carry another team to promotion.

Then the season started and the manager didn't even mention me when it came to team selection. Diego Rolan, who was also clearly angry and looking to leave, also hadn't been touched.

Nightmare!

Hopefully I can do some good here, hitting my peak so hopefully have a massive season here and can hopefully move on. Injured for 3 weeks so might be a real fight to get into the team.

It was a quiet first season at Saint-Etienne. I missed the start of the season and struggled to really get going. From recovering from my knee tendinitis to picking up a couple of different issues it was just a slow drag all season.

I spent the majority of time as a striker but only played 22 games from the start.

It's a start, hopefully I can smash a few in next season. I did break 100 league goals though, so pretty chuffed with that. Loic Remy has been keeping up to date with me, constant chatting over Twitter and text. He got another job in Ligue 1 at En Avant de Guingamp and avoided the drop on the final day, expecting more he got the sack. It's a shame because players warm to him, as a player he never had that leadership attribute but he really gets players. Hopefully he gets time somewhere.

Onto the old Bordeaux, however. They unsurprisingly smashed Ligue 2, 12 clear of second place. Meaning I will be meeting them next season, some fans were hostile towards me when I left so should be a spectacle!

Unfortunately, most praise for anything Saint-Etienne related went towards this 20 year old. Who was very decent in front of goal.

I'm for sure better, just need next season to hurry up!

Remember that 17 year old?

50 caps at 22 on £300k per week!

Shame he can't dribble a ball!

Yeah interesting one. If I was the St Etienne manager I would look at playing the 20 year old and you up front together in a 4-4-2 as you look like you would compliment each other nicely.

Another year with Saint-Etienne has drawn to a close and it was certainly progress on what I managed last year. We got a top-half finish, finishing 7th.

In our first game against Bordeaux, where they didn't have much travelling support I scored as we drew 1-1. On our travels and my return to Bordeaux I couldn't get going. We won 3-2 but some tougher challenges and hiss and boos from the crowd were off-putting, it's a shame because prior to the second relegation I put in a lot for the club.

Apart from that my season was decent, played as a supporting forward a lot and was involved in goals.

Hit double figures in the league which was really my aim, was aiming for 15 overall but our cup run ended short and a few injuries kept me out of playing more in the league.

It's a step in the right direction for sure, absolutely desperate to compete in the Champions League though, or even over in England or Spain.

We shall see what next year brings!

Is that guy the same regen from Paris? If it is he's lost his 20 stats!

Cracking story mate! That regen is sick! I neverrrr get any regens any were near as good as that!

Good career so far dude, if you ask me he is a little to good to be spending most of his career in Ligue 2, I hope you finally get a good break at Etienne! And yes that Regen is ridiculous, I am lucky if any of mine ever end up being anywhere near as good as Heskey lol

I've seen over weight 50 year old men, with a hang over and an addiction to Mayfair Smooth, who turn up on a Sunday to the mud hole that is my teams home ground, for no other reason than to escape their wife and kids for a few hours a week who have better tekkers then Emile Heskey.. he is a legend though!
