Bosnia & Herzegovina

Bosnia are a country that used to be part of Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The bosnian players used to play for Yugoslavia before it dispanded. They played their first match in 1993 vs Iran. They have never qualified for a major tournament, but have came close on many occassions.

July 1st 2009: Shock news as Bosnian Legend Safet Sušić has been sacked as manager Bosnia with immediate effect after he intentionally left out 5 key members of the squad for an extremely important match vs Spain. Dzeko, Misimovic, Begovic, Salihovic and Pjanic were left out. Spain won 5-0, in the crunch match which could have seen Bosnia claw back for Top spot in World cup qualifying group 5.

July 5th 2009: Amatuer manager Kieran Fox has been named as new manager of Bosnia & Herz. This has come to no shock to most bosnians as Kieran's grandfather 'Mathieu Fox' was a legendary Yugoslavian Centre-back and has said to have influenced the Bosnian FA decision. ' I am delighted to be made Bosnian manager and will be looking to secure a spot in the 2010 Fifa World Cup, but also consider the future of the country'.

Key Players

Edin Dzeko - He was a sensational player last season for Wolfsburg, helping them secure the Bundesliga title and scoring 26 goals in 32 games, in the league alone. He has 16 caps and 9 goals for his country and this will hopefully carry on.

Miralem Pjanic - The young wonderkid is only 19 and has established himself as a key member of both club and country. He is a great attacking playmaker and will be key in Bosnia's qualifying campaign. He has won 8 caps and 0 goals.

Zlatan Bajramovic - He has bags of experience and I will be looking for him to help out the younger lads. He will provide the 'rock' formation in the defensive midfield position.

In an interview on Bosnian TV today, Fox was asked ...

'With no translater and you can't speak bosnian, how will you communicate?'

"Football is a universal language, I will read my bosnian dictionary (H) and crack on with the job in hand!"

Do you want me to update the qualifiers match by match or just in one big update?
Thanks :)

Looking good Fox, I'll be following.
Is Misimovic in your plans? He was immense alongside Dzeko in my Wolfsburg save.

Yes he is, I'm looking to play 3 AMCs

Pjanic, Misimovic and Salihovic

Would you recommend match by match update or the rest of the 4 qualifiers in 1 go?

1 go but a bit detailed would probably be the best way to go about it. (Y)
Good luck

hey man I'm from Bosnia and I will follow your story for sure...good luck mate

Bosnian Squad Announced

Goalkeepers: Asmir Begovic, Kenan Hasagic, Sead Ramovic

Defenders: Branimir Bajic, Josip Colina, Mirko Hrgovic, Damir Mirvic, Adnan Mravac, Safet Nadarevic, Boris Pandza, Vukasin Trivunovic

Midfielders:
Zlatan Bajramovic, Dzemel Berberovic, Dario Damjanovic, Ivica Grlic, Sanel Jahic, Haris Medunjanin, Zvjezdan Misimovic, Samir Muratovic, Miralem Pjanic, Elvir Rahimic, Sejad Salihovic.

Strikers: Edin Dzeko, Vedad Ibisevic, Zlatan Muslimovic, Ermin Zec

" I am happy with the squad for the games against Armenia and Turkey. This is the best squad possible at this moment in time, I was lucky we had no serious injury problems. These 2 games are critical, I am 6 points off Spain with 4 games, its a long shot, but if I can atleast secure 2nd spot I will have a good shot at qualifying through play-offs".

Armenia 2 vs 6 Bosnia & Herz
Agvan Mkrtchyan (40 pen), Artavazd Karamyan (87) - Boris Pandza (7), Edin Dzeko (23,52,74), Vedad Ibisevic(59,81)

Post match analysis: Really surprised at the result to be very honest, bit dissapointed that we conceded 2 goals, but love the fact we scored 6 and my 2 main strikers got 3 and 2 which is always a big factor in the key to success. Dzeko started and banged in a hat-trick, but I was more than impressed with Ibisevic who came on at half-time to score 2 fantastic goals.

good result mate, the bad thing about bosnia is the defence, other than colina, its awful

Yeh, I know joe isn't the greatest defense thats why I'm playing 2 DM's

Post Match Analysis: Wow. 2-0 down after 27minutes and I thought this is over already, my chances of making the world cup is over. But no, the 89th minute comes and Dzeko completes his 2nd hat-trick in as many games and scores us the victory and puts us 7 points clear of Turkey and gives us the play-off place and hopefully a chance to push for top spot, although that is a long shot.

I don't think you should do it game by game, there was someone that did it with another internantional team and did it game by game, and his thread was just full of Good Luck, Good Luck, Well Done, Well Done. And Kris told him to do it every 3-4 games.

Defenders: Branimir Bajic, Josip Colina, Mirko Hrgovic, Damir Mirvic, Adnan Mravac, Safet Nadarevic, Boris Pandza, Vukasin Trivunovic, Ermin Bicakcic

Midfielders: Zlatan Bajramovic, Dzemel Berberovic, Sanel Jahic, Davor Landeka, Haris Medunjanin, Zvjezdan Misimovic, Samir Muratovic, Miralem Pjanic, Elvir Rahimic, Sejad Salihovic.

Strikers: Edin Dzeko, Vedad Ibisevic, Zlatan Muslimovic, Ermin Zec

" We had 2 midfield injuries to the squad, so I decided to add 1 defender and 1 midfielder. The defense isn't the best position in the squad, so every addition is helpful. I have already secured a play-off place, being 7 points clear of Turkey with only 2 games left, but unfortunately 6 points behind Spain, playing them in the last game. The play-offs are our best bet."

Coach, thanks I will do my last 2 games in 1 update. :)

i agree with coach somewhat, i believe for important games like those play offs you should do it in 1, but for a bunch of friendlies do it in one go

Estonia 2 vs 1 Bosnia & Herz
Raio Piiroja (7), Andres Oper (59) - Edin Dzeko (12)

Post Match Analysis: Deeply dissapointed with this result, it means we definately can't get top spot even though it was a long shot. It didn't matter anyway Spain won 4-0. Still it would have been nice, against an easier opponent too. To comeback like that against Turkey then lose like that to Estonia of all teams, but hey thats football, and thats why we lo
ve the game!

Bosnia & Herz 2 vs 1 Spain
Pjanic (81) - Raul (3,22)

Post match analysis: A great performance from the lads, which wasn't shown in result. We were outplayed from the whistle till half time. Then I changed the mentallity and put a few touchline shouts on at half-time and we looked like a different team, I put Pjanic upfront and he looked like a beast. A good performance to walk us into the play-offs. Now its all about luck or no-luck of the draw!

Good results against Turkey and Armenia. Unlucky against Estonia and Spain though mate, unless you got the scorers wrong and it really was 2-1 to you XD

World Cup Play-Off Draw

Portugal vs Ukraine
Germany vs Bosnia & Herz
Serbia vs Slovenia
Ireland vs Greece

Like I said you either get luck in the draw or you don't. I would have taken any other team here except Portugal! I get possibly the hardest team here, BUT I plan to frustrate them at their place, maybe nick a nice away goal. Then at home beat the **** out of them. (How i'm going to do this I dont know) But if I'm going to do this, I will need a fresh batch of players and everyone fit.

Update tomorrow around 7ish as I have college :)

Try Medunjanin in MC attacking or AMC, he does really well.
Begovic is a real diamond.

You should try to get Sasa Papac out of retirement, one of Bosnia's best talents!

---------- Post added at 03:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:30 AM ----------

Also Salihamidzic

Why you dont call Senijad Ibricic in BIH he is really good player

Good job you're in playoffs but Germany will be hard task...maybe you should look at Emir Spahic he is our captain and not bad in defence...good luck
