fm20 laptop

it would be good enough but if you can stretch to a Ryzen 7 processor and a 17 inch display you will see a world of difference

It would run it, for sure. Only a quad core though, so would assume further along in the save it'll start to slow down a little.

DDR4 RAM is useful, and you can expand to 32GB if you needed/wanted.

I don't think you'd have an issue with it, in all honesty. Price seems fair, too.

Wondered if I could get some advice, rather than create a new thread thought I would jump on here.

In terms of what im looking for - I dont use the 3d match engine, generally I look at having 2/3 nations loaded (8-10) leagues, classically ive alwas used a medium database but thats mainly due to the fact that ive always had fairly poor laptops as up until the last year or so I have had crappy jobs and thus a low budget! so I would love something thats capable of dealing with a large database. Finally and probably most importantly I use the data editor a lot and install as much graphics (kits, badges, skins etc) as I can, also try my hand to creating kits via photoshop.
So heres a few links to Laptops, just wanted some second opinions really on which would be the best to go after (all the links are Argos, theres probably cheaper retailers out there but I have an Argos card so this just works easier for me)

3 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8477147
4 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2848930
5 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3189186
5 is probably the reach of my budget really so unless its significantly better than the previous 4 options I wouldn't really consider it
Many Thanks!

Hi - I've had a look at those laptops (not that I'm a tech expert - far from it!) and a lot of them don't have a fast enough processor eg. 1.8GHz. The minimum requirements for FM19 is 2.2GHz. I've copied the minimum requirements below for you so that you can compare them to laptops that you're looking at.

I personally got a cheap Lenovo Thinkpad T440p from eBay for £127 and whilst 5 years old, it's doing the job perfectly well. It came with a 1TB hard drive but you can upgrade this to an SSD to make it quicker. Bear in mind that if you want to use the laptop to run FM20 then it needs to be a 64-bit machine and not 32-bit, as they're phasing that out in the next edition.

Is it only Argos that you're looking to buy from? I recommend typing something like 'Laptop 2.6GHz 8GB RAM SSD' into eBay and seeing what comes up. That's only if you don't mind a refurbished machine, of course.

  • MINIMUM:
    • OS: Windows 7 (SP1), 8/8.1, 10 (1803/April 2018 Update) – 64-bit or 32-bit
    • Processor: Intel Pentium 4, Intel Core or AMD Athlon – 2.2 GHz +
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Intel GMA X4500, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT or AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 – 256MB VRAM
    • DirectX: Version 9.0c
    • Storage: 7 GB available space
Hope that helps a bit, hopefully someone with more tech knowledge will be along to help soon.

Hello! First of all thanks for the reply, far more helpful and informative than a reply i received on a similar post on another FM forum!

Argos generally is easier for me as I’ve had an Argos card for years so any bigger purchases I’ve always used them, hence why it’s all their links - could look elsewhere for sure but it would take more financial planning shall we say. I’ll look to use this information going forward, I’m convinced my laptop I’ve had for years isn’t fit for purpose for FM ( by those requirements) but it’s managed to run it just about over the years.

I assume laptop listings would state wether it’s a 32 bit machine or not ? I’m not sure I’m familiar with the meaning of that

Problem is - it has outdated Intel integrated graphics ( Intel HD Graphics 4000 ) and its really not for gaming. Sure, you can run FM on it, but it wont be the smoothest experience. That Mac is for daily use such watching videos, movies and such.
