I recommend some young stars for the future... Marquinhos, Laurito, Zuculini etc and Akinfeev. Have a look in the players (on the site) section that may help you.

Marquinhos on my Everton cheat game is awesome, he's in his 1st season with me and i thought he would take time to settle in but he seems to have taken to it like a duck to water

Miguel Veloso, Palombo, Fabregas, Steven Gerrard, Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Zhirkov

I'd go for those, but obviously 6-8 more players.

right click on the fm 09 game icon and pick run game editor. you can change just about anything on it. you name it. you can change it. you can then use the database you make for a saved game.
