New Rivals

So I know this didn't happen in FM 09, but it might have been added in 10 or 11. When you're managing a lower league team and you advance up the leagues do you form new rivalries with teams you regularly play, or will I be stuck with my Serie C2/D rivals?

Actually, I think that this was mentioned once in the pre-release announcements.
I don't remember the exact words, but the point is they thought that would be too complicated.
Besides, if I had to choose I would like to have no rivals. I mean, I can understand the fans' reactions towards the rivals matches, but the clubs asking me more than twice the money they would ask anyone else for a player is plain silly. I mean take a look at the Milan-Genoa trades from last summer in reality. In FM I had to give a truckload of money to Genoa for Criscito only to barely get him to agree terms...
