SkySports News say part of FC Twente's stadium in Enschede has collapsed. Dutch police say an unknown number of people are also trapped under the rubble.

The Enschede venue was in the process of undergoing renovation when the roof of a stand caved in on Thursday morning. Pictures appear to show part of the roof at one end of the ground has come down and initial reports suggest there may be casualties.

Dutch news agency ANP reported that a large number of police, fire services and ambulances had arrived at the scene. A spokesman for the Twente regional police force said: "We do not have many details at the moment, the only thing we can say is that we have quite a big situation.

"Part of the tribune has collapsed, so we have some people beneath it and we have got some people (police officers) there at the moment. "We can't say any more about what is going on because we have had no contact from our people from our station who are there at the moment."

The spokesman could not comment on whether anyone had been killed or injured. He added that the roof's partial collapse was probably related to construction work at the stadium. The work was being carried out as part of the club's development of their stadium to a 32,000-seat arena. The capacity was just 13,500 when the Enschede side moved to the venue in 1998.

People trapped in the rubble as well :S

Dutch Media think the roof collapsed due to a few beams becoming dislodged, worrying for the rest of the stadium since all the parts of the stadium are currently being expanded/upgraded from the older structural parts like the beams/parts of the roof.

Construction workers are basically all the injured, roll out the health and safety checks that the stadium failed in the past 2 years that will come out of the woodwork. Twente were doing renovation on all stands and expanded the capacity, construction workers weren't at fault like I said a few roof steel beams came lose.

I would guess there will be 5-14 deaths and around 10-15 injured, very sad.

Confirmed 7 injured.

Local media saying they have found one dead so far but that's not been confirmed yet by local paramedics or reported down AP/Reuters.

That looks horrific. I hope there aren't too many more injury's or deaths! :(
