Tactic for slow central defenders

Hi All,

I'm new to FM 2012 and I have a question regarding tactic for slow defense
I'm playing the 4-4-2 formation with 2 central defenders with defend duty + 2 full backs.
My GK is really sucks on 1 on 1 and has a bad reflexes. so I dont think I sould use him a sweeper to cover my defense
since I've no funds for buying a decent Central defenders (2nd leauge team) I need to find the best suitable tactic for my players.

I was thinking playing with a deep defense line but that's all I can think of. do you have any other suggestion?

Play a deeper defensive line or change formation so you have a CDM Aswell, will offer more cover and will make you concede less usually. Role of anchorman or defensive mid

Does ball winning midfielder is sufficient? (defense duty) I'm asking because I don't have a natural defensive mid fielder.
Also, should I keep my central defenders duties as defend, or change 1 to cover?
