At 3:00 pm today the board members of the Dutch club AFC Ajax have declared the discharge of manager Martin Jol. Jol was no longer wanted at Ajax after the Dutch newspaper "De Telegraaf" reveiled the former manager's involvement in a large scale gambling scandal. Uri Coronel, the chairman of Ajax, said both staff and the playing squad have lost their faith in Jol.
Rik Nuyts, the belgian cousin of the chairman was introduced as the new manager of AFC Ajax. Nuyts is a familiar face in Belgium and Holland, and the Ajax fans are happy with his signing as the new manager of their beloved team. Supporter spokesperson Ray Schuurman stated that the fans think Nuyts is a very decent coach and they hope Nuyts will bring a lot of silverwear to the club's homebase Amsterdam Arena.

During his press conference this afternoon at 5:45 pm, Nuyts gave some interesting responses at the questions of the attending media. When asked what his plan for the club was, Nuyts responded by saying he wanted to make AFC Ajax one off the biggest and best talent generating clubs of the world again. He went on by saying that the old Ajax was a top club in the world, winning the champions cupin 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1995, and the Euro Cup in 1992. He stated that his goal was to restore Ajax back to his former glory. After this question, well-known journalist Sander Smit from the "Dutch Football Post" asked Nuyts what his plan on the transfer market was. "I plan to buy only talented youth players" was the respons of manager Nuyts. He also said that he was aware that the finances of Ajax weren't good enough to buy the best of the best promising young players at this time. "Don't expect me to sign a Pjanic or a Balotelli this season" stated Nuyts with a grin. "I'll be searching for affordable hot prospects who can become important team members for the club, given the right guidance". With Nuyts on board, the fans are really interested to see if their team can win the Dutch Eredivisie (touted as second). Their biggest wish is that the team does well in the EURO cup and qualifies for the champions cup by winning the Eredivisie.

I hope you like the beginning of my story. My main goal with this story is to attract young tatlented players and eventually deliver a lot of world- (or at least continental :p) class players again and make Ajax one of the biggest clubs again.
In the next post: more information about Ajax, the players, the facilities,... and maybe already some promising signings!

PS: sorry in advance for any gramatical errors, my English is pretty decent I think, but I really am from Belgium so English isn't my native tongue...

AFC Ajax facilities

With his capacity of 51628 people, under soil heating and a futuristic roof, Amsterdam Arena is one of the biggest and most beautiful stadiums in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Training Facilities

The Ajax squad are equipped with top training facilities so they can deliver top performances. The (promising) Ajax youth players have access to excellent youth facilities plus a youth academy to deliver the wonderkids of the next (re)generation ^^).

The squad
View attachment 30689

Key players:
- Maarten Stekelenburg: Goalkeeper of the Holland national squad
- Demy de Zeeuw: Ajax's tireless defensive midfielder with a continental reputation
- Luis Suárez: A real top notch goalscorer. While most players his age are at best a hot prospect, Suárez established himself as a key player and team leader of Ajax at just 22 (!) years of age

Hot prospects:
- Jan Vertongen: 22 year old promising belgian centre-back
- Ismail Aissati: 20 year old left winger. Very agile and creative player with a very nice dribble in his feet.
-Miralem Sulejmani: 20 year old ambitious attacking midfielder

I will keep an eye on this story, I like people doing Stories outside of the England, good luck, hopefully replicate the Ajax side of 98 in 4-5 years ;)

Well we can dream.

Thanks, I was gonna do an espanyol story first, but then i saw their already was a great story about espanyol.
And yes if my squad can become as good as in 98, then i think i really reached my goal. I'm constantly scouting for the next Jari Litmanen, and I'm hoping someday two twin boys called de Boer will join my youth squad <)

Just keep hold of Suarez for as long as you can, always top clubs sniffing around him.

i'm loving the detail there! not so sure young players will do it......you need an experienced player, 1 at least on the pitch! good luck and keep hold of suarez

Coaching staff

Ajax manager Nuyts expressed his disappointment at the board today. He feels he can't attract the coaches the squad deserves with only a maximum of € 2.900 to offer for coach wages. The board told Nuyts they will not increase the maximum wage offer because the total amount of wages is already fairly close to the wage budget.
With limited financial force manager Nuyts was still able to come together with a good set of coaches.

He stated he's particularly pleased with the signing of goalkeeping coach Bruno martini.

Leading man of the scouting squad will definitly be german scout Olivier Bierhoff, who recently signed a 3 year contract with Ajax.

When asked why the scouting department was important, Nuyts responded by stating: "Well unless you think quality players will come knocking on the Ajax door, I think you will agree that we're gonna have to look for them... That's why, as we speak, my scouts are on their way to scout countries like Holland, Denmark, Austria, Germany and Belgium to name a few."

Suárez isn't going anywhere, or it has te be a "Cristiano Ronaldo-size" transfer offer ;)

Thank you christophermcl and rewhi9p, i spent quite some time on the layout and the detail. And pictures always make things pretty :)

No doubt I will follow ;)

Loving the detail in this buddy. Should be a great story.

how much you get for transfers ?
what players u got in mind ?

I got 5 M for transfers at the moment, but I'm gonna sell a couple of players to get some more transfer funds. I got 5 or 6 left wingers who are claiming a first team spot, so im gonna sell 2 or 3 of them I think.
I already got some prospects in mind, but I'm at work now so you'll have to wait untill I get home so I can make a nice review of the potentail signings... Always keep them yearning for more is what my father used to say. He was talking about girls, but I think it can apply for this situation aswell.^^)

Good luck dude...I am doing a pretty similar thing with Ajax, bought a whole load of under 20's.
Have you decided on what formation to play?

Tactical clarification

View attachment 30973

A few hours ago, newly appointed Ajax manager Nuyts held a press conference to discuss his interpretation of the Ajax squad tactics. Interest into the managers tactical views were said to be high, with a lot of media representatives attending the press conference. One of the main things the journalists wanted to know was whether Nuyts would continue with the 4-4-2 tactical formation that the previous manager Martin Jol utilized.
Nuyts responded to this question by stating that “ Jol’s decision to play using a 4-4-2 formation, abandoning the total football-oriented 4-3-3 that has become Ajax' trademark, was a big mistake and caused a lot of consternation. I intend to use the classic 4-3-3 formation again that was invented by the legendary Rinus, “the general”, Michels and made Ajax a famous club.”
When asked if he was also going to use the total football tactics corresponding with the 4-3-3 formation the Ajax manager answered in an appreciative manner. “I will use those brilliant tactics as a starting platform and fine-tune them to best fit the current Ajax squad. So I will tell my players to take on a fluid playing style with the defenders pushing up slightly and when these tactics are well applied by the squad, the fans can expect some very attractive, attacking football from their team.

Training schedule

View attachment 30975

With Nuyts only just sitting a couple of days in the managing seat of Amsterdam football club Ajax, he already added a whole bunch of new coaches to his training staff. Rumor now has it that Nuyt’s close friend Tug will also be brought in by the manager to aid the coaches. Tug has an excellent reputation for setting up world-class training schedules and is believed to coordinate the overall training of both youth and senior players at Ajax Amsterdam.

Transfer Rumors

Players wanted by clubs

- Luis Suarez
View attachment 30998
Today the Ajax board has sent a formal letter to Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti. The board has kindly requested Ancelotti not to make a bid for star player Suarez anymore, because they fear for Manager Nuyt's health if the Chelsea manager should make another transfer offer. It's been rumoured that the Ajax manager almost laughed himself to death after finding out about Chelsea's lousy 12,75 M bid for Suarez.

- Jan Vertonghen
View attachment 30999
Promising centre-back Vertonghen has firmly established himself as an important first team player for the Ajax team. Manager Nuyts has told the media that Vertonghen is an important player, but for a high enough bid he would let the player go. Nuyts also stated however that the 5,25M bid + clauses from Toulouse wasn't even close to being enough to seal the deal on Vertonghen.

Potential new signings
After only a few days, a lot of players were already linked to Nuyts and his Ajax team. The most important names are thought to be Maicon, Hazard, Otamendi, Lukaku, Sissoko, Areola, Lodeiro and Zuculini. When questioned about these players, manager Nuyts declared he will not respond to speculations at this time. He also noted that he will call a press conference to introduce his new signings when all his transfer deals were sealed.
