Southend United now have full reports and latest news from southend radio, This will cover all latest events with full match reports, plus all the transfer talk. The team at Southend Radio love to support our local teams, Thats why we have sports news in all our bulletins, 7 days a week. Southend Radio will be giving complimentary match tickets to home games at Southend United this season to listeners. Which will boost the much needed attendance at Roots hall. Chairman Ron Martin is delighted with the idea, and hopes to see the Blues make it too Division 1 this season.

Southend United have already played 6 League this season and are currently in 6th place in the NPower League2, and managed a great 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace in the League cup. The Blues then challenged Everton at home in round 2, But Southend were unlucky just to lose 1-0.

The Blues Manager Paul Sturrock has told Southend Radio, That he expects all 3 points in there next match at home against 14th place Torquay United. Martin Ling manager of Torquay is looking forward to the match at roots hall, as he used to play for southend, Liam Dickinson the southend leading goalscorer with 4 goals is on top form and will be looking for Goals. There will be full match report after the game and Southend Radio have gave away 300 complimentary tickets to home fans. Torquay are expected to bring just 150 fans from plainmoor.

Gulls Demolish Blues
Torquay United demolished the blues last night in the NPower League 2 match, Torquay got of to a flying start just two minutes into the game when Rene Howe advanced with the ball down the left wing, From a tight angle Howe blasted the ball into the back of the net, southend keeper sam Cowler didnt stand a chance. The Gulls were of to a flying start, Southend just couldnt get back into the game, the solid Torquay defence was well organized, Liam Dickinson smashed a 25 yard drive over the bar on 35 mins for southend.
View attachment 279068The Gulls were delighted with the first half here at roots hall, Torquay were well organized in all areas of the pitch, southend just couldnt handle them, so it was half time here at roots hall, With Torquay leading 1-0,The crowd of 6,229 were expecting a southend comeback in the 2nd half. Paul Sturrock gave the team a roasting in the half time break, Not that it done any good. Anthony Grant smashed the ball against the post after 55 mins, Then Torquays Ian Morris had his shot cleared off the line by Micheal Timlin, Then in the 77th min Nicholson played a freekick forward to team mate Grant who hit a screamer from 20 yards out ( Goal) 2-0 To the Gulls, Southend had no way of coming back from this, Liam Dickinson had one final chance in the 88th minute but blasted the ball high and wide over the Torquay goal.

Martin speaking from plainmoor this morning also said it was great to be back at his old club last night, Ling spent many years as a player at southend. Martin also wished the Blues success in there NPower League 2 challenge.

Sturrock said he expects more in there next match at home to Shrewsbury.
