This isn't at the start of the game, but at the end of the 1st season, Deco, Louis Saha, and Luis Boa Morte just got released on my save and I think they've been released on other people's too so hope that helped

i also recomend lauren really solid at right back
i know hes not a free agent but you can get wilshere on loan and he rips up the championship

I got Ruud Van Nistelrooy on a free after Real released him. I pop him on for a few minuetes at the end of some games and he starts most league cup games. So far he has seven goals in nine appearences!
