Today marks the start of a new career for me. I have loved football for all of my life but I have never done anything to follow my ambition. I have always been an awful footballer. I never did follow my dad's playing talent which gained him a trial which was sadly unsuccessful. If he was successful, I might not have even needed to start my own career. As my Dad's trial was a failure and he saw players he played with such as Mark Bright, become a professional, he was forced to hang his boots up, knowing he would almost definitely never make it.

I have decided to embark on a journey, one that may hopefully make my Dad proud. After completing all of my coaching badges in the summer, I plan to become a Football Manager and to build my career from scratch, from nothing. I believe that in the next couple of months, I will be able to get a job somewhere in the UK. My ultimate goal is to become famous over the British Isles. Now is the start, the beginning of my football legacy.

Oakes' patience will be tested if he is to achieve his objectives and to be a household name throughout the British Isles.

Good luck with this Dan,

It'll be tough finding a club.

Good luck Dan. May the force be with you ;)

The Beginning............

Today is the most exciting day of my career, which has really been non existent up to now. I have applied for two job vacancies that I scoured over on the internet. These were at Worcester Football Club and Kildare County. I will probably be asked various questions from both interviewers but both will probably ultimately ask the same thing.

''Hi Daniel, What makes you want to manage Worcester Football Club''

With you being an Englishman, what makes you want to come over to manage in Ireland''.

The answers to these questions were very obvious to me, I stated my ambition and also my love for the countryside in Kildare. I was very confident of hearing from them again.

Two Days later........

I have today been approached by both Kildare County and Worcester. I was quite confident about this but did not think I would get a reply so quickly. It has left me flummaxed with what to do.

Today was the day. I finally made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I have taken the vacancy at Kildare County.

What I can gather from the surroundings here and what the chairman has said to me, I will not be getting paid! This seems strange as football is all about money, but oh well, you have to start somewhere. I just hope they can recover my travelling expenses. I now have to go to a press conference to meet the lecal newspapers. Wish me luck.

Kildare Football Chronicle: You sit here as the new Kildare County manager. Is this your dream job?

Oakes: I would never consider it a dream as in dreams I would get paid for doing a job but I am delighted to finally get into the game.

Kildare Football Chronicle: How do you plan to set up your tactics?

Oakes: Well it would be stupid to broadcast it if I am honesy but I will probably mix and match.

Press Officer: No more questions please.

So, that was my first ever press confrence as a manager and I must admit, it was nervewracking. Trying to think of what to say has never been my strong point but it will come in time. Now to look through the squad and look through any deadwood and throw it out.

Rock Bottom

Wow, having been used to watching the English leagues growing up, I assumed that all leagues start in August. It appears not. Kildare have employed me when we are in a horrendous position. We stand at rock bottom with no points after eighteen games. My first call of duty will be to get the lads some points on the board and help to gain build their confidence. This may be harder than it looks and will require a lot of work. Here is how we stand in the league.

Our next game is against Limerick in a couple of days and I believe a win is possible.....................even if no-one else does.

chose the wrong club there mate i live in worcester marco addagio is a god on the game and off it!!!!
