I am a die hard Liverpool supporter, and the new appointment of Brendan Rodgers has inspired me to create a new save with my beloved reds. I hope that I can make it as entertaining as possible, I wanted to create a realistic approach to the game to renew my interest in FM. I will follow up in the new post with the start of my career.

Please note: I will use FMRTE to keep Joe Cole, and Alberto Aquilani at the club. As well as give Liverpool a more realistic transfer budget of 25m euro's as has been reported through various news sites.

Melwood Press Conference - New Manager: Shawn Rodgers

In the following press conference that unveiled the new KOP boss, Rodgers outlined the philosophy he will be enforcing on the Liverpool players in the next season.

"I like teams to control and dominate the ball, so the players are hungry for the ball,” Rodgers says. “You’ll see in some of our exercises this morning, a lot of our work is around the transition and getting the ball back very quickly. Because I believe if you give a bad player time, he can play. If you give a good player time, he can kill you. So our emphasis is based around our positioning both with and without the ball. And for us, when we press well, we pass well.”
Winning the ball back quickly and high up the pitch was a key feature of Barcelona’s approach under Pep Guardiola and, as Rodgers explains, is much more sophisticated than it may appear. “You cannot go on your own,” he says. “You work on zonal pressure, so that when it is in your zone, you have the capacity to press. That ability to press immediately, within five or six seconds to get the ball, is important. But you also have to understand when you can’t and what the triggers are then to go for it again because you can’t run about like a madman.

“It’s decision-making and intelligence. And this was always the thing with the British player, they were always deemed never to be intelligent, not to have good decision-making skills but could fight like **** for the ball. I believe they have all of the [attributes] and, if you can structure that, then you can have real, effective results.”

When quizzed on the gaffer's thought's on his new squad he replied, "Simple, really. There is massive quality here. When you come to a club like Liverpool you must have enormous quality, haven't you? There is work to be done for sure, and implementing this type of play style takes time. Liverpool football club should be at the top of the English game, but we need to get there. I am realist, and I understand that this ambition won't happen overnight. The important thing is that club progresses forward. Steady progress is the goal that myself and the owners have identified as being the most important thing. We have no minimum requirements, we have a long term strategy that we are going to move forward with. There is a great quality amongst the players in the dressing room here, but there are also areas that need to be addressed as well. I will be looking to bring in 2, 3, maybe 4 players into the team for next season; it's apart of the natural progression of any club to do this."

There is a real since of intrigue around the club, however the likes of Pepe Reina have made it clear that he along with some of the other players would have perffered Rafa Benitez to be appointed the Liverpool gaffer. Stay tuned....

The team has progressed in training and is adapting to the new pass and move style that the new gaffer insists on his team playing. While the results and the possession stats of the first month have been pleasing there is still work to be done. I'm delighted for Andy Carroll to start the season off with a goal, as well as putting in consistent performances. I've opted to play Carroll up top with Suarez moving out to the wing. I'm sure we would get the most out of Suarez playing as the front man, but I would really like to get Carroll up to form and playing well. As long as the team is winning we can happy.

Starting XI:
Formation 4-2-3-1:
Johnson - Skrtel - Agger - Enrique
- - - - Aqualani - Lucas - - - - - - -
Kuyt - - - Gerrard - - - Suarez
- - - - - - Carroll - - - - - - -

Transfers In:
Willian - 10.5m
Carlos Fierro - 1.3m

Transfers Out:
Nathan Eccelston - Loan
Fabio Aurelio - 600k

Brendan Rodgers on new signings: "We secured two players this summer, Willian from Shaktar and Carlos from Chivas. Carlos will be joining up with the squad next year, as he will continue to develop at Chivas throughout the rest of this year. Willian, is a player with skill and pace. He fit the profile we were looking for in a winger to the tee. Having him on the field will allow us an outlet in possession out wide. He possess the ability to take players on and is great on the counter attack. Really excited to see what Willian brings to this Liverpool squad."

August

Liverpool 1 > 0 Aston Villa
Andy Carroll, Header in the 6th Minute

Brendan Rodgers: "We played fantastic football an we really should have bagged a few more goals. I'm extremely proud at the way we went about our business in the game. The effort put forth by the lads was top draw. We had 70% possession in the match, just goes to show the quality we have here. I couldn't be happier with the lads."

Liverpool 2 > 1 Derby
League Cup
Joe Cole (35th), Charlie Adam (114th)

We dominated the game from the off, we possessed the ball quite well but we weren't getting to many chances. We played a complete rookie back four, with Jack Robinson and John Flanagan out wide, along with Martin Kelly and Sebastian Coates pairing up in the middle. So to be honest I'm pretty pleased overall to only allow one goal. The rookies gave a good effort. Charlie Adam's over time goal was a screamer from 30 yards out. He banged it with his lefty and curled it in. Fantastic strike. Charlie is pushing for a starting role, and this strike will undoubtedly put pressure on Aqualani.

Liverpool 1 > 0 Chelsea
Ashley Cole (O.G)

Possession 60/40 in our favor. Again, we really didn't have too many chances, but as you can see two clean sheets pleases me and the win over Chelsea does even more. The match was played at Anfield and the media had perdicted a win for Chelsea, so we can be proud of our efforts today. Anytime we secure a win against the Cheskis we can be delighted.

Liverpool Player of the Month: Charlie Adam 7.40
1 Goal, 1 MoM
