The Club

View attachment 78704

Founded in 1968 (50 years ago), Fortuna Sittard Combinatie are a professional Dutch club currently playing in the Jupiler League. Fortuna Sittard finished 16th in the Jupiler League last season.

The club plays their home games at Stadion Fortuna Sittard and possess average training facilities and average youth facilities. The club has adequate junior coaching and an average youth recruitment network. The club retains a fierce rivalry with Roda Kerkrade.

The club enjoyed probably their best spell of success during the 1990s. Although now enduring a twenty-three year barren spell, having not won a competition since 1995, Fortuna Sittard still have a history of which they can be justly proud. Fortuna Sittard finished runners-up in the KNVB Beker in 1984 and 1999, and won the Dutch 2nd tier in 1964, 1966 and 1995 and finished runners-up three times.

Fortuna Sittard sack Hansen

View attachment 78471

Thomas Hansen has had his contract terminated by Fortuna Sittard Combinatie Chariman Menno Faber. Hansen was summoned to an emergency board meeting and the discussions have resulted in his departure.

Hansen had been Manager at Fortuna Sittard since February 2018. Fortuna Sittard have lost four of their last fife games in the league.

Fortuna Sittard will now be looking for a new manager.

Speculation as to Hansen`s successor at Stadion Fortuna Sittard is rife, with FC Den Bosch director of Football Wiljan Vloet being touted by the media as the favourite to get the nod. Fortuna Sittard officials are refusing to comment but speculation suggests that Mike Snoei, Peter Hyballa and Ovidiu Stinga are also likely to be in the mix.

Cerceda hires Hansen

View attachment 78289

In what may be seen as a surprise appointment, the Cerceda (Spain) board have named a virtually unknown Norwegian manager as their new boss.

Thomas Hansen, who turns twenty-five next birthday, was introduced to fans and journalists this morning. Hansen struggled at Fortuna Sittard and was eventually sacked, and will now be hoping for a better experience upon taking the Cerceda post.
