How to play against the big teams(away)

Currently playing as Stoke and doing quite well. Until i came up against Man City. Lost 5-1. Got hammered. It always happens when i go smaller teams. Get absolutely thumped away from home. Happened in FM15 too. So i used to just holiday away to the big teams.

What should i do? I use the Denial standard tactic of this forum but i changed it to counter. Just got played off the park.

What should i do? If i play deep and defend they will probably pick me apart and if i have a go they will probbaly pick me apart. Can't win either way.

Dont go counter to the big teams that is suicidal especially if you dont know how to set up counter tactics (its not merely a matter of turning the mentality say from control to counter)!

I play a 5(WB)-2-1-2 counter attacking style with my Southampton team. Team instructions stick to positions, high pressing. You don't really concede many and the 2 up front give you the edge on the counter. Just beat won 3-1 at City using this
