Just started a network game with only 2 players. On the menus everything runs perfectly fine but matches are really slow for whoever isn't hosting. We've tried switching hosts and nothing changed.

Any ideas of how to fix or improve it or even what is causing it?

As it causes more strain on your bandwidth than just loading menus, I will say it's your internet connections. Connect directly to your router via ethernet cable (the host, but both if you can both do it) and see how that goes.
You can also both drop your match graphics qualities down and test that out.

It was set as commentary only and no replays so pretty sure it's the internet connection. Added a third player in now and he still runs slower than the host but is so much quicker than the original second player. He's gonna try an ethernet cable eventually and will see how it runs then
