League 1 and 2 used to be bread and butter level of football for Wrexham, I can remember then kocking out Arsenal out of the FA Cup.
I've experimented with Darlington a bit, I've put the team back in the Darlington Arena, and given them a backstory with a rich chairman and a selection of players who are sons of famous players, or wonderkids from previous versions of CM and FM, who haven't made it as successful in football...

I've always enjoyed playing Darlington, especially with the Darlington Arena back in the older versions due to the capacity of the stadium.

Change your tactics, often in the game you will start well, then start to get draws then start losing, when you start to get the run of draws it's time to totally change your tactics as the game has adapted.
Nothing to complicated have simply changed around all the relegated and promoted teams in the Premiership etc.
Swansea, Norwich and QPR now in the Premiership, Blackpool, Birmingham, West Ham relegated etc. All the way down to Blue Square North / South.
