As far as I know, it isn't possible to "Turn Off" auto-updates in Steam and the only way to prevent any updates of your games is putting Steam into "Offline" mode

I use the Waste Time tactic only when I lead by 2 goals or sometimes I use it when I lead by 1 goal and it doesn't matter for me when it happens at the begging of the match or at the end :)

the attacking corner setup was changed and not the defensive ;)
