Yeah, there's a button on the right side of the shortlist screen (above the list of players) that lets you save the shortlist. It's right below the "Ask assistant coach to exclude" box. It says "Shortlists" and has an arrowhead on it.

Maybe the head coaches in the league you are playing in have put more effort in tactic training to defending set pieces after noticing your team scoring goals from them. This would especially be true if you won the league both seasons.
