i am unable to talk to ANYBODY in the game it seems, including my board!

Whenever I try and hold a meeting I am given "There isn't a suitable reason to hold a team meeting" Whenever I try hold a private chat I am given no options and it just says "the conversation has ended" Any ideas? Running latest patch.
