Having a lot of issues with switching to backup tactics in this patch. I can no longer switch to a backup tactic for a match; I have to hit "make starting tactic" in order for the changes to be saved (or make the change in Quick Tactics, which adds it's own issues to the mix).
Think I spoke too soon; came together after November and the away form has gotten way better. Couple small tweaks but I think it was just a matter of waiting for the players to gel as I brought in a lot of players at the start of the season.
I'm working on perfecting a 4-4-2 Wide Diamond formation which has been relatively successful. 3rd in the league with 20 played.

Three questions:
What combination of settings would keep a Target Man from going out Wide if I want him to stay in the middle? Crosses set to Rarely and Wide Play of what? Normal? Cuts Inside so he'll just get back inside if he ever ends up out wide?
