Grrrr, I just hate it how some matches are just made to be unwinnable, even if you successfully motivate all your players. We went up against Man City, everyone was looking motivated and Man City's had poor morale across the board, but ahoy hoy, Steven Gerrard (Steven f'n Gerrard!) misses a...

    Post Your Frustrations

As soon as you reach the top of the table, the rubberband AI kicks in and you get slapped with results like this so the other title challengers can catch up to you: It doesn't matter how well you motivate your own players, the AI gets its magic bonuses to finishing/long shots while their...

    Injuries in start of season

Before you play a friendly, put your players in a high Strength/high Aerobic training schedule for at least a week to get match fit. If you jump into friendlies without fit players, you will dramatically increase the risk of injury.

From what I can tell, the international break injuries are scripted and randomly allocated, so the more international players you have in your squad, the more of those you'll pick up.

Tactics aren't the only thing that affect player performance. There are a variety of factors that can make players play like garbage with a perfectly decent tactic. Morale and team talks are the most obvious example, but there are a lot of things going on under the surface that can affect player...

FM11 is undoubtedly the greatest sports simulation ever, it's a staggering achievement, but this doesn't change the fact that pressure and complacency are designed to work together to make certain matches extremely difficult in order to maintain the "realism" of the occasional upset. This is...

I just took a 3 goal lead into the second leg of a Champions League quarter final. I carefully managed complacency, and when the game starts, most of my players are motivated. Naturally, the AI decides that it just wants me to lose anyway, so we go down 4-0 with nearly every player rating...

    missing clear cut chances

If you're on an extended run of good form, the game reduces the rate at which your CCCs convert to goals. This is supposed to model the pressure and resulting drop in composure that comes from being one of the top teams. You might try lowering the tempo of your tactic and telling your strikers...

Studies of actual top level football have indicated that the penalty-to-goal conversion rate is about 85%. Of course, whenever it's a penalty shootout in FM11, I always miss at least 3. Total realism, right?

Onox 4-3-3 Total Football v3 (Everything won as Man U) Great Results!

Great tactic. For those who are having problems with long shots, make sure your mid-fielders don't have the "Shoots from Distance" preferred move. If they do, you may need to change their roles slightly and reduce their Creative Freedom.

That's my experience in a nutshell. Complacency = Rubberband AI Apologists can howl all they want, but at the end of the day, complacency is just a mechanism that punishes you for playing well... the very definition of rubberband AI. Yes, "complacency" happens in real life, but it's not the...

    4-4-2 Make & Break Tactic

This worked well for a few games but now it's completely collapsed. The formation seems to leak goals like crazy. I give up, on average, about 3 goals a game and virtually any advantage I get is almost instantly met with an equalizer.

    4-4-2 Make & Break Tactic

Well, this worked for about 3 games culminating in a 5-0 win over Birmingham, but then as always, it collapsed and now I'm lucky to win one game in ten.
