I've never been able to get Messi to perform without only playing one striker as there just isn't enough space for him to get into the box.

Are you playing two strikers? He can't really cut inside and score if there's already two players occupying the areas he would run.

Chamakh bangs them in in my game, but you could go for Robert Acquafresca, Edin Dzeko, Mario Gomez, Gonzalo Higuiain (If you're big money) or Karim Benzema.
