Player salaries are limited by the boardroom. They will only allow you to offer so much for a player with a particular team status. Try changing the players status from 'backup/rotation/whatever' to 'first team/ key player' and see if you can offer more.

How much of an effect does confidence have on strikers/goalkeepers? Like if a striker misses chances does it make him more likely to miss chances in the future? Same for goalkeepers? Making saves or giving up goals makes them more/less likely to save in the future? Currently my goalkeeper can't...
