The only way to remotely re-create the kind of pressing is by using the man-marking. Get your striker to man-mark one of the CB's, the wingers man-marking the fullbacks & central midfielders obviously to mark opposing central midfielders. Don't man-mark wingers or any forward players. This...
I've been trying to come up with a Bielsa tactic for ages now. It's very difficult to find the right balance between dominating possession & also exploiting tons of space in-behind if it's there. Against opponents who also try to press, using the same settings you'd use for against a team that...
I actually don't mind the new tactical set-up. With possession, my team plays some great football & I'm not particularly bothered by the incredible saves every goalkeeper seems to make.
What I do hate is not being able to remotely achieve this...
I set-up a tactic for my players to press & close down like rottweiler's on crack. Instead, it's like re-watching Chelsea vs. Barcelona. There's just no closing down whatsoever, unless you can call walking very slowly up to a player closing down.
All I want is for the closing down to be better. It seems impossible to put pressure on opposing defenders when they're bringing the ball out of the back. On FM 13, there was a patch which vastly this & I started getting loads of goals from winning the ball deep in opposition territory. On this...
If you want to have the left-back to be further forward, just edit it to make him "Run From Deep" a lot more, or even move his position up once. I do sometimes, usually if the opponent plays with just 1 striker & when there wide players are playing almost like 2 extra fullbacks. As I've said...
I've tried it all before, but without a base tactic to really experiment with. Now I've established this tactic as consistent, I'll attempt to really try to replicate Messi's position more. But as I say, pressing your opponent high up the pitch & regaining possession as quickly as possible when...
Change his runs from deep to "rarely". You could try him placed as an AMC, which I've done before, but I need him to be our first line of defence. I can't get us to pressure our opponents as vigorously when I have him as an AMC, opponents get easy possession in there own half.
