Anyone got a network game going i can join to try it out?

Although im not new to football manager i have never played a network game, ive found myself wondering lately though whats so good about them? so can anybody explain what exactly makes network games so good?

How do you make a created player a free agent? I tried just not putting any contract details in but then they don't show up in the game...:S

Im thinking of making my own team, anyone have any advice on this matter? Success stories are welcome :)
