When you watch your team on the TV wondering where the **** the new signing from Croatia is then realizing 5 minutes later that the transfer happened in FM.

Its a bug, and as far as I know, it's been reported quite a few times now. Board negotiated transfers sometimes fail to bring in the player even though all contracts are signed. Sorry bud.

The problem with the last game (FM 11) is that, almost everything is done via reputation (clubs sign players, managers, et al. based on in game reputation level.) I do agree that it needs to be changed where everything will be done via in game performance and form, it will be hard to implement...

Defoe is one of the best poachers in the game. Coincidentally, he's ripping up the prem for me in my current save. But if you want more of a complete forward type then go for Artem Milevskyi. How long into the game are you? Because as seasons progress, the save file becomes larger and larger.
