Well make sure you expand your squad with good players. Also, try private conversations with players that play well after each game, that usually gets their morale higher. Obviously don't praise the same player after every game because they get annoyed.

Think he's talking about opposition players rather than his own. I usually use tight marking and closing down on the player, should help stop him getting the ball to his feet.
