Yeah, it should work fine. If you create a game, make sure you have the 'run as server' option checked in the preferences. The other people on your lan should see the game in the list. The host then has to save it. :)

I'm expected to be a title challenger by the board, a tough ask looking at the squad (both size and quality) I have no money to spend, and im £110 p/w over my wage budget. Pre season starts here. See who I can find in the transfer market. I'll keep you posted!
50k is a fair wedge for league 2 and below. You'd be able to get 3-4 decent players in for that I would imagine. Try getting yourself a feeder team and young loanees in.
Try getting some young loanees from Champ downwards. Don't use the seach, go into the reserves and see who they've got about. Try clubs close to Braintree. Ie, London clubs or Ipswich/Norwich. Hopefully that helps! :)
