The positive I guess is that likely the board will expect a relegation so you might keep the job anyways.
Personally I think its even harder when you do well but stays in the same division, cause then the board expect you to do the same next year even though you overachived getting that high...
Brilliant tactic for me with Oxford City in the Conference, won the league after being judged as the weakest team in the division at the beginning of the season.
