This tactic was used interchangeably with a 4-2-2-2 in a title winning season with Hamburg. It was more defensively solid than the 4-2-2-2 but lacked a more direct attacking threat. It takes inspiration in parts from Man City's 22/23. It is advisable that for the left sided forward to be right-footed and the right sided to be left-footed as the both cut in at every opportunity. For the segundo volante it is helpful to have a fast and competent attacking player that can also help out with defence.
