SpVgg Bayreuth 3. liga 4-2-4. At number 1 but struggling to hold on against mostly weaker teams

This is a tactic I'm using for SpVgg Bayreuth in 3. Liga. It works decently against stronger team but falters against weaker ones for some reason. We've reached the halfway point of our 2023 season at 1st place instead of the fighting for relegation as was expected, but the future seems bleak with the team struggling especially against weaker teams. We had an alternative 4-3-3 style, but that one lacked enough offensive potential so We switched to this formation at the quarter season mark. Tactical familiarity is near max.

There are no special player instructions other than shorter passing for players who tend to make too many bad crosses.
