Was looking to start a new save in league 1 and have been looking at Brighton but they have £80mil debt! How realistic is this?? i mean fair enough if its true but how can league 1 champions have so much debt??

Probably a history of promotions and relegations that caused the debt.

I saw that, think it is the stadium debt.. Pretty lame though.

Yeah its stadium debt, it cost them £105 million to construct it.

Ouch, thats a fair bit, think you might want to win league 1 and the JPT to make the first dent!

SI HAVE GOT THIS WRONG! The stadium was not a debt, it as paid cash no debts by our chairman Tony Bloom, it cost 105 million, but it is not a debt! they got this completely wrong and i sent in a e-mail about it, i was proper angry about this, as we have 10 million pounds to spend next year on players.

I might be completely wrong here but I remember watching an article on tv re: the Brighton stadium, and wasnt it part financed by a professional poker player?

Tony Bloom. And American Express. Tony Bloom owns betting companies and was a professional poker player (still is i think) but brighton have no debt, he wiped our debt off, he payed 90 million, Amex payed 15 for the name rights and it gives loads of jobs for people in Brighton. But that stadium was a ****** to get, 4 years of tireless campaigning.

I did think he part paid for it, didnt know where the other part was coming from. I do hope Brighton do well in the Championship.

Guys ive jus loaded up data editor and Brighton's £80mil debt is a non-repayable loan until 2023
