After Portsmouth's huge monetary issues the club was disbanded and replaced by a newly created team call Éire United. Paddy O'Neill a wealthy Irishman hired Ex-Irish International and Celtic player Johnny Swift to build a team of the best Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland players. Swift hired Neil Lennon as his assistant coach and the pair immediately got to work, assembling a team that could compete in the ever improving English Premier League. An initial roster of 20 players was created, with money given to buy players at the start of the season and throughout the season. Only Irish players will be allowed on the club and O'Neill has rented out Croke Park for home games.

(Also was wondering if someone could make a logo with config file for me?)

What about Thierry Henry? I'm sure he would lend a hand. :P;)

Anyway, good luck with this, should be a good story if you can get the layout right.

That hurts mate
I plan on updating every 5 games, giving the scorers and a short analysis of the match. The starting lineup looks like

Given
Kelly Dunne Evans McCartney
Lawrence Ireland Davis McGeady
Doyle Keane

an amazing db idea, cant believe someone didnt think of anything like this, best of luck

Agreed! This just reminds me of Athletic Bilbao.

Decided to take a sports writer approach to this as I inspire to be a writer. Will post game reports after 3 games to keep the reading per post to a minimum. So far life has been rough for the Irish.

Wigan Home: 1-1 Kevin Doyle (1)
First match in the history of Éire United was somewhat of a bore game. Kevin Doyle was the first Irishman to put away a goal for the club and he did so in the 10th minute. However shortly after Charles N’Zogbia slipped in behind the Éire defense and placed a shot past Shay Given. The remaining game was a midfield battle with the only other real chance being a Aiden McGeady shot off the bar after a clever run. The next two matches will be a real test, at Old Trafford and back at Croke Park against the Gunners.

Manchester United Away: 0-4
Wayne Rooney and Manchester United proved to be too much for Éire United in this one sided affair. The spectacular Wayne Rooney blasted a shot in from 30 yards away twelve minutes in, shortly after the luck of the Irish kicked in as a Patrice Evra cross deflected off the back of Michael Owen, giving Owen his first Red Devils goal. In the 30th minutes Robbie Keane missed a golden opportunity and the resulting counter attack saw Wayne Rooney slip the ball past Shay Given for his second goal before half. The Irish played well until a reckless tackle by Jonny Evans earned him a straight red against his former club, Dimitar Berbatov capitalized two minutes after leaving many people with a scoreline that suggest Johnny Swift and his Irish squad might not have what it takes in the EPL.

Arsenal Home: 1-2 Kevin Doyle (2)
The Irish fought hard but couldn’t get the result against the visiting Gunners. Croatian Forward Eduardo gave Darren O’Dea the run around before smashing a ball into the back of the net in the 8th minute. After that the back line stood solid against a heavy Arsenal attack and were rewarded when Shay Given’s booming long kick soared over the Arsenal defense and onto the boot of Kevin Doyle who neatly put it away. However the atmosphere at Croke Park was quickly deflated when Thomas Vermaelen got his first Arsenal goal three minutes after Doyle’s equalizer. The rest of the match saw Arsenal withstand everything Éire United threw at them and the game ended with the half-time score. After 3 matches it seems several star players such as Robbie Keane and Stephen Ireland are having a hard time finding their feet, if Éire United are going to be a force in the EPL they will need there stars to produce.

Let me know if that is too much, also any takers on the Crest?

Carling Cup Rd. 2 Newcastle Away: 2-2 Pen 3-4 Robbie Keane (1,2) Man of the Match: Robbie Keane (1)

Éire United’s first taste of Cup football in England was both brilliant and bittersweet. Peter Lovenkrands opened up the scoring just before half with a shot from just outside the box. Robbie Keane finally got off the mark with a brilliant finish after some nifty moves in the box. In the 100th minute of extra-time Aiden McGeady was fouled in the box and Irish Captain Robbie Keane confidently put the penalty away for his second goal of the game. However four minutes later a penalty was given after a poor challenge by Chris McCann and Shola Ameobi equalized to eventually send the game into penalties. Things just got worse for Chris McCan as he put his spot-kick wide to lose the shootout and end the Irish’s Carling Cup dreams.

Everton Away: 1-1 Kevin Doyle (3) Man of the Match: Darron Gibson (1)

The first half against the Toffee’s was a display for both Tim Howard and Shay Given as the keepers made several spectacular saves each to keep a clean sheet. Martin Patterson returned from injury and made his debut in the 58th minute subbing for a worn out Robbie Keane. A minute later Patterson was fouled in the box and Kevin Doyle put away the penalty. Once again however what comes around goes around as Stephan Ireland was called for a penalty in the 70th minute and Yakubu neatly tucked away the penalty to lead the game to end stalemate. (Steven Davis out for four weeks)

Blackburn Home: 3-2 Robbie Keane (3, 4) Paddy McCourt (1) Man of the Match: Robbie Keane (2)

Paddy McCourt’s 94th minute 30 yard free kick gave Éire United there first EPL win. The Irish came out much more attacking than in previous games and it showed when Robbie Keane was played through by Aiden McGeady and put away the first goal of the match in the 9th minute. Chris Samba equalized for Blackburn just before half. The second half saw the Irish press for another goal and it was found when Robbie Keane put away another great through ball this time from Kevin Doyle. However Franco di Santo out jumped Richard Dunne and smashed a header in the upper corner two minutes later. And it was substitute Paddy McCourt’s brilliant free kick that gave Éire United it’s much needed first win. After 5 games The Irish sit in 13th place in the tables but lead the EPL in attendance with over 72000.

Fulham Away: 0-2

Poor finishing cost The Irish a chance for back to back wins as chances were squandered throughout the match. In the 17th minute Johnny Evans cracked the woodwork off a corner and the resulting counter attack led to an Erik Nevland goal. Nevland scored again before half and Fulham sat back on their lead and Éire United were unable to break through.

Hull City Home: 4-0 James McCarthy (1,2) Robbie Keane (5) Paddy McCourt (2) Man of the Match: James McCarthy (1)

Éire United came out looking like a new team in the first half at Croke Park. 18 year old midfielder James McCarthy scored goals in the 17th and 20th minute, both assisted by Kevin Doyle. Robbie Keane then scored in the 22nd minute. To cap a spectacular first half Paddy McCourt scored a brilliant, curling free kick from just outside of the box before the half ended. During the second half The Irish just sat on their commanding first half performance. It was a promising and needed result, keeping a clean sheet while piling on the goals.

Wolverhampton Away: 1-3 Stephen Ireland (1)

Éire United’s traveling woes continued in this disheartening loss. An Andrew Surman goal in the 2nd minute was not the way Swift was looking for his team to start the game, however they regrouped and Stephen Ireland headed in Paddy McCourt’s corner just before half to even the score. Four minutes after the break Stefan Maierhofer out jumped Richard Dunne to put Wolves up 2-1. As The Irish went all out for the win Andrew Keogh got a 93rd minute consolation goal, making sure that The Irish remained without an away win. (Northern Ireland Qualifies for the World Cup by winning their group) (Shay Given out for a month)

Have the Logo, someone on a Celtic forum made it for me but not quite sure how to make it the clubs logo on the game. Also if anyone wants to make Kits off this crest it would be much appreciated :D
