ive seen people on here posting there team instructions and they use a attacking mentality but a slow tempo. i thought you use a slow tempo for a defensive mentality and a quick on for attacking. can someone set me straight on what to do???

Just because a team wants to attack it doesn't mean they have to do it quickly. Having a quick tempo just means they play the ball around quicker and try to get a show off as soon as possible.

look at how Brazil have won world cups, and the Italians play with a slow tempo too

It's possible that time-wasting also has an effect on perceived 'tempo' too. This is especially noticeable with lower league teams where forcing them to do things too quickly can be a bad plan with their low mental attributes.

I saw a great article on how Fulham are currently playing the top teams to get results. They deliberately play at a very slow tempo when attacking to give the opposition time to regroup. This means that when the opposition gets the ball back, Fulham are also in position and the opposition can't open the play up effectively. It's not a winning tactic with Fulham's players unless they can nick a setpiece goal but it has got them some decent draws. (I suppose this could be recreated with a defensively orientated control tactic in FM).

edit: found it. Was a thread on it on the SI forums. But here's the link to the actual article: http://timesonline.typepad.com/fanzine_fanzone/2008/12/fulham-how-to-t.html

and combine it with passingstyle as well cause it's importent if you have long passing that you have a slower tempo, and otherwise
