I was wondering if anyone could help me and my brother have our own laptops/computers and connected to the same wi-fi is there any way of playing together but from our own laptops??

Hamachi Networks, or use the IP addresses whilst running a net (normal with the "Run as Server" in prefrences option tagged) game under Join Network Game.

Should be in Network Games though.
