ok guys for a while ive been trying to get 3 at the back working and i stumbled across having 3 sweepers and it works pretty nicely without an offside trap. I just want to know your opinions with 3 at the back. (I also play 3 dms that keep the ball very well).

3 at the back works well when you're playing against 'smaller' teams at home etc if you employ wingbacks. Away from home you could use 3 at the back too, with two anchor men in front of them or something. But personally, I find 3 at the back doesn't work especially when you're playing against quality wingers. I prefer having fullbacks.

I would ditch the sweepers. Play 3 but two outside ones defend and middle on cover all in a row. Then play WB on defence. Two central mids, role up to you, on support. Then Am central an two forwards of your choice.

Played like that with Napoli and finished second in first season. Good set up.

because with my current formation now i have played 7 games with 3 at the back and have only conceded once. £ of the seven games have come against man united and liverpool. I also play with 3 defensive mids and im able to keep 80%+ possession in 5 out of the 7 games. Before that i had problems defensively but since i made my 3 at the back sweepers and have gotten rid of the offside trap it has worked wonders and is especially good when it comes to dealing with crosses.
