3 man in defense

I'm trying to create a tactic based on 3 man in defense but I have some problems ...
Although I have assigned to the wide midfielder: closing down to "own area" and "zonal marking" when my team defends my wide midfielders can not close the spaces, they follow the one who holds the ball (if nearby) thus leaving their position unguarded and opposite winger can fit easily.
Due to these wrong movements undergo a lot of goals.
Also I am not convinced about movements of 3 central defender
Can you help me?

i used a 352 formation it was like 3 def 2 wbs in line with the dm position 2 cms 1 am and 2 strikers which worked well, i can upload an image if needed just let me know

Seems to work a treat, top of the league with both my Charlton and Tottenham saves.
