- My goal was to create a very effective tactic with my favored 4-1-2-2-1 formation. Nothing against some of these unorthodox formations, they just aren't my cup of tea.
- This tactic as you can see employs the motto of a best defense is a good offense! I wanted to make a tactic that would allow us to control the match and enforce our will against any opposition home or away.
- I also wanted to implement as well as I can with this match engine the Barcelona/Guardiola 5 second rule when we lose possession.
- Basically the goal is to have a lot of the ball but have possession with a purpose and when we lose the ball to close down and put enough pressure on the opposition to force a mistake to win possession back. It is very common for us to have more passes complete than the opposition has attempted.
Tactics
I wanted to use a F9 as a striker to allow him to drop into midfield to open up space for my IF's to make runs into. This tactic plays very narrow and relies upon the WB's to offer width when attacking.
Player Notes:
WB's: These are key players within the tactic. They need pace and quickness to beat their marker and good crossing abilities to deliver balls into the box as a lot of the threat with this tactic relies upon themI wanted to use a F9 as a striker to allow him to drop into midfield to open up space for my IF's to make runs into. Player Notes:
CD: It is imperative that you use CB's with good pace/acceleration. The tactic uses a very high line and if you use slow CB's like Mertesacker they will get burned with counter attacks and long balls over the top. In my Arsenal save I had to not use him in important matches because Kocielney constantly had to cover for him
RPM/B2B/RGA: Need to have solid technical, first touch, and passing skills as you depend upon them to control the match and keep possession
Left IF: Right footed
Right IF: Left footed
Team Talks:
These are very important and can make the difference between a win and a loss.
Pre-match talk: Assertive -expect a win usually or pick up where you left off last match if you had a good result. If you had a player in the last game with a rating of 8 or better I will make an individual talk and say more of the same from you.
Half-time:
If losing: Agressive/Assertive - Where is your passion/show me something else
If tied: Assertive - I am not happy with your performance
If winning by 1 or 2 goals: calm - don't let your performance levels drop
End of match:
If lost or drawn: Agressive/Assertive - Not good enough
If we give up a late goal sometimes I will say we were unlucky
If we win by a good score: calm - I am happy with the result and the way you played
Results:
Firstly, this is by no means a perfect tactic and requires active intervention by the manager. I wouldn't recommend plugging this in and going to get a cup of coffee and come back and expect to be winning by 4 goals. It did however give me a Quintuple in my first year as Arsenal
