Lets have a look at the tactics and player roles

View attachment 451875

Player Roles

Complete wing back attack: you only want to set one of your wing back for this role normally your more offensive wing back and set him on attack

Deep lyine playmaker: Important stats for this position are Passing tackling and creativity. someone like Toure, vidal or sandro. you want to put him on support he is key to teams passing.

Ball wining Midfielder: Important stats for this role are positon, marking, tackling, stamina and passing.

Advanced Playmaker: Will be used to link up you two dm and st. the most important player on the team. he should have high passing, dribbling, creativity, first touch, decisions and teamwork. set him to attck as well.

Pocher: he will basically when attacking stay inside the box and clean up. good stats are finishing, positioning, anticipation and off the ball.

Home tactics: For home games against small teams like west ham and torino etc set Mentality to control.

For Home games vs tricky or good opponents and away games v lower opponents: Man U Everton napoli etc. set Mentality to counter.

For away games vs good teams : set mentality to counter. change your st role to False 9 you will need him to be more involved in the game vs good teams with false 9 he will drop back and add more passing to you game.

Well thats it so far i hope i described it well 1st time posting tactic i have made. will post screenshoots of results and transfers i have made so far with my city save only in january but will screeshoot more results and how my season went tomorrow need sleep now hope you guys like the 4-2-3-1 deep

any tests on using a weaker team or it's intended for the elite teams (don't usually play the Man City/Man Utd cos they tend to be way too easy).

you should try it with rigid as your using 4 specialist roles as it may work a bit better in some of the trickier games, although if its winning lots of games there may be no need, the reason i say this is because of this article

UPDATED: 12 Step Guide - FM14 - Football Manager 2014 Forum (FM 2014) - Neoseeker Forums

which basically says the more specialist roles you use the more rigid it should be if your specialising their role you dont want them deviating from that as it will ruin shape and defensive structure, if you want to play fluid then the roles should be generic so BWM becomes DM or CM defend DLP becomes CM support CWB becomes WB Poacher becomes AF or CF setting these roles means they will play more fluid as they dont have a specialist task to do in matches,

the reason i post this is because i have had some luck with rigid with my bilbao team just won champions league beating united 2-0 in the final second season in playing a rigid 433/451 with 4 roles set as specialist

yes this tactic only works with the elite teams, i have tried it with fulham watford and southampton, didnt work as good as man city.

Il try put it on rigid and see how it goes il let ya know.
