Hey Guys,

I am new to using these forums, so any mistakes I make like choose thread locations please be patient. :)

I am looking for some advice on adding some new dimensions to my 4-5-1 tactic I have with my QPR team in the 10.3.0 patch. I can't upload a screen shot of the tactic due to being on my old crappy laptop.

Here are the details - I am 1st in the Championship with 6 wins, 2 draws, 1 lose.

However, when I seem to play against stronger opposition I don't seem to hold on my own. Against Liverpool in the league Cup 4th Round I lost 5-2. I use the Football Manager 2010 tactical tool. You know Set Rigid, etc.... But I do use player instructions to make things more specific.

FB's - Automatic
CB's - One Cover and One Stopper
DM- Anchor Man
MC's - Attacking Central midfielder, Support Central midfielder
AML and AMR - Inside Forwards
SC - Treq..... I won't attempt to spell it hehe.

Team Instructions - Rigid, Standard, expressive, Press More, Shorter Passing, Counter Attack set, Very quick tempo (2 clicks from a full bar). (no offside trap) ( my defensive line bar is just 2 clicks over half way). I took of a primary play maker.

When I played against Liverpool I saved it just before the match not to cheat but to experiment. The 5-2 lost was my normal tactics without change, I was to worried that changing would make a negative affect on the team. However, when I played that game 2 more times to try a more Inter Milan defensive approach it caused me to lose 4-0 and 3-0. When I mean defensive approach I mean I changed the inside forwards to defensive / support wingers. Central Midfielders were ball winning etc... So I really changed the approach.

Sorry for my long thread. I just wanted to know other tacticians thoughts on this. Is there only a point in which a team can achieve, or am I too determined to beat a bigger club I become somewhat unrealistic?

I couldn't buy any good players. I got rid all the loans and brought these players in - Michael Ball, De Laet (Man Utd D RLC), Forsund (DC, Norwegian), Bryan Hughes (ex Hull), Christian Vieri, Pacas AM RLC (spainish free transfer). So i spent no money and now I come under my wage budget, i try to be a business man as well in the game to make profits to move forward.

Again sorry for the long thread and the long way around this. If you need my squad I can type it in 5 minutes, I remember all the players and the rotational system I use.

I noticed you have "expressive" on in your team instructions, put this on "disciplined" or "default" vs bigger sides as you're players will try difficult passes against better players which won't work and you'll lose the ball a lot.

Also lower your tempo vs bigger sides to frustrate them and try and nick the goal, although don't lower it too much if your countering, e.g put it just below the middle of the bar.

Probably drop you defensive line aswell if you're countering to soak up the pressure and then counter the opposition.

I will give your advice ago. I think I went wrong in not lowering the tempo and changing to discipline.

I didn't think of doing those changes because in the championship I have only let in 3 goals. Cheers for advice, I will update you when I get a chance to play my game. Marco's kitchen burnout is on now for my partner lol.
