Hi all,

I heard recently from a high ranking FA Official at a tournament in which my team i coach(U10's) that within the next few seasons, the jump from 7 aside to 11 aside will be shortened to 7 aside to 9 aside.

If so, then it will mean 3 quarters of the full size pitch will be used, matches will be 25/30 min halves and the goal sizes will be reduced.

I will be interested to hear your views on this.

Thanks.

They should do it like they do in Spain and play small 5 a side pitches, it improves touch and control, i.e iniesta.

have to say i've played 5 a side loads recently, and i've noticed an improvement in an 11 a side game

great idea in theory but arent they increasing the age in which kids can play 'competetive' leagues to the under 10 levels
so this would mean that there will be a delay in gettin to 11 a side and reduce the potential number of players coming through

i play u15 level nothing really wrong with 11 a side cant really understand why they would want to change it tbh

in holland they play small sided games
and they use a smaller sized ball
all this helps develop good technique
