FA Cup:
2nd Qualifying Round Replay
Following a disappointing draw away at Wroxham, we took them on here at Ewen Fields in what we hoped would be a simple task and while the FA Cup is far from a priority, any extra income is always a bonus for the club.
Disappointingly Wroxham took the lead early on, Glenn Dudley finishing from just outside the box to put the away side ahead, a nightmare start!
Reece Gray, our young striker pulled us back level 3 minutes later, a precise finish from the forward as he slotted the ball into the bottom left hand corner.
Things got worse for us on 39 minutes when D'arcy O'connor scythed down Dudley inside the box, a penalty to Wroxham shortly before half time..Not what we wanted at all.
Brent Foy took the responsibility but you wouldn't have seen any nerves, the midfielder calmly sending O'Brien the wrong way, 2-1 to the away side...
Ronnie Seymour doubled the visitors advantage on 50 minute when he found the net early into the 2nd half, we started the 2nd as we ended the 1st..Awfully.
This is how the game finished, another poor result as we exit the FA Cup early on.

Our first league game of the month saw us take on Leamington away from home, hoping to bounce back from a poor FA Cup performance we needed to start quickly.
Steven Tames, our leading goalscorer quickly put us 1-0 up after 15 minutes, exactly the start I was looking for!
But more poor defending cost us 6 minutes later when Danny Newton leveled for the home side.
After a flat end to the 1st half, Luke Hubbins put the home side ahead early into the 2nd half, glancing home a header from a Leamington corner.
This time it was our turn to pull level, and we did in the 70th minute as playmaker Regan Walker was picked out by Tames before placing the ball past the oncoming Goalkeeper, 2-2.
Aron Wint capitalised on more poor defending as the home side regained their lead 11 minutes from time, and any chances of a comeback from us were dismissed on 85 minutes when D'arcy O'connor saw a second yellow for a late tackle. Another league defeat.

Our 12th game of the season saw us take on league leaders Chorley FC in what would be a very tough match, but we were hopeful..Off the back of two defeats I knew we needed to restore the confidence in the locker room and a win here would certainly do that.
The away side took the lead on 21 minutes when Kyle Brownhill put the ball past his own goalkeeper, more nightmare defending...
However we managed to show character and pull level within 30 seconds when Dave McNiven struck the ball with intent and saw his shot ping off the post and into the back of the net, a lovely equaliser!
We failed to come out in the 2nd half, Chorley quickly scored 3 goals in 22 minutes to destroy our hopes of getting anything from the game, all the while showing why they're in the top 2 and we're down in mid table.

Our penultimate game of October was against 3rd placed Boston United, and on the back of three defeats I definitely wasn't feeling confident.
However the boys managed to pull off something special here as we took home a 1-0 victory.
D'arcy O'connor received his 2nd yellow for a horribly late tackle on 79 minutes, his 2nd of the season and from here I felt we were sure to throw the game away..A 4th defeat on the bounce, maybe?
But the team kept fighting and in the 94th minute managed to dig deep and pull out something special, Connor Hughes picking the ball up out wide before cutting inside on his right foot and bending one around the Boston Keeper, 10 men Hyde were getting the 3 points!
I was overjoyed!

Our final game of the month saw us take on Worcester at Ewen Fields, on the back of a surprise victory against Boston I realised that anything could happen.
A horrendous start early on as Nathan Battersby gave the away side the lead after 10 minutes.
Young Striker Reece Gray found our equaliser 7 minutes later, latching onto a Louis Almond pass before stroking the ball past the Worcester keeper.
40 seconds later and we had the lead, Louis Almond once again a provider turned goalscorer as he found space on the edge of the box before firing past the Worcester shot stopper, 2-1!
Liam Chilvers made it 3-1 in the 74th minute, the veteran central defending leaping high and powering the ball into the net with a thumping header.
There was doubt in the result though when Connor Gudger pulled one back for the away side in the 78th minute, we couldn't afford to drop points here.
Lucky for us the late Worcester pressure came to nothing as the traveling side failed to find the equaliser, we had back to back league wins!

Same story again as we find ourselves just shy of the play-offs, which to be fair is pleasing as we did lose our first two league games of the month..Like I said before, we just needed to dig deep and find that consistency we've been lacking.
Here is an overview of the months results:

Liam Chilvers (CB)

Liam picks up his first POTM award for Hyde FC as the veteran CB played a pivotal role in some of the key defending we needed to hold onto our two league victories, not to mention chipping in with a tidy header to score his first of the season.
