Luke Durman, football manager.
Dear Mr Durman,
We thank you for the application for our vacant manager position, we have been very impressed with you CV….
I didn’t know how they were impressed as nothing was really on it, apart from taking a Sunday League team to win the title a few years running, I suppose being 22 was a good point though, anyway back to the mail.
…. and would like to ask you to pop down to the stadium on Sunday (5th July) for an interview with our chairman, Derek Pope where if preformed well you’ll be offered the job there and then.
Regards,
Havant & Waterlooville FC
I sat in my computer chair shocked, shocked at the fact that I could have the job this time tomorrow.
5th July
I awoke to my ceiling at 5am, nervous like **** at the forthcoming interview with Havant & Waterloovile for my job interview. Getting out of my bed I turned on my laptop and started to search the club getting to know the players and the cub over all, ho there were two clubs Havant FC and Waterlooville FC and the fact they merged in 1998. I looked at the clock and saw the time being 8 o’clock, I turned of my laptop and decided to get a shower and get ready for the interview. At 8.45 I left the house and drove down to the stadium to see the chairman….
….As I walked out the office of Mr Pope I was grinning from ear to ear, I was the Havant & Waterlooville manager.
1st July
I flick through the local paper looking for a job and one catches my eye, the Havant & Waterlooville managers’ job. Immediately I print off a CV of mine and drive down to Westleigh Park to drop it off. The lady behind the desk took it and smiled at me. Walking back to the car I look at the dodgy stadium and laugh, I then begin to drive home.
4th July
After checking through the post for the past few days I moan about, once again, not receiving a response about the job for the vacant Havant & Waterlooville job. I moan and get back onto my computer; I decide to check my email.
There was an email from Havant & Waterlooville Football Club, it said;
