Tried to find a definitive answer to the first one but have been unable to do so, I have a few 15 year olds who I have signed with very decent stats, yet are lacking in height. Question is, do such adolescents grow? Has anyone ACTUALLY noticed their players grow, even if just by an inch or two?

Secondly, what is your favoured mode of individual training for youngsters? Do you focus on a specific attributes? Or focus on positional roles in the hope of developing a number of attributes quickly?

In terms of tutoring, does selecting whether you want a senior player to assist with a youth's game or of the pitch mentoring make a difference? Ie will the first affect technical while the latter affect mental? I've tended to had good results from like for like positional tutoring and selected the senior player to assist the youngsters game, however now I have asked Nigel De Jong to mentor an attacking mid/forward off the pitch in the hope of improving his mental stats. Just wondering if anyone had any personal experience or results?

Print screens would be great if possible and I will try to get some myself after some time.

Main reason I ask about height is regarding this guy. Only 15 and 5'10 with great all-round stats. I just feel that if he grew a little, and thus his jumping reach improved, along with strength training, he could become a pretty complete striker.

Sadly no I don't believe players grow in height. And I've found a method that tends to be less focused on each individual player and more focused on something more in your control which is the ability of your training staff as in who you hire on your staff because coaches tend to be very cheep to sightsight

For player growth, see this thread. Although that is an exception, it has been known to happen.

If you want to increase their height, try training them in 'Jumping Reach' and see how it goes. I dunno if it'll be successful or not, though.

And for tutoring, I generally tend to do things. Many regens have high determination. I set their training, depending on their roles. For Forwards, I set it to 'Complete Forward' at Heavy. Midfielders, I set their training to 'Box to Box Midfielder' at Heavy. Defenders (CB), I set it to 'Limited Defender' at Heavy. My thinking behind this was that this develops their stats in a wider range of roles, thus becoming more useful to the team.

As for mentoring, yes it does improve stats by quite a bit. If you select 'Improving their game', players will generally get a Mental boost (the amount of boost they get depends on the mentor, and whether their personalities gel). If you go with 'Off the Field', it's with regards to modifying their personality. This helps mostly with the determination level, which in turn helps with stat attributes.
And yes, it does work. Jake Sinclair and Jordan Jones both recieved pretty decent boosts after getting tutored. However, there's a time-gap between 2 mentorings, and age limits.

It's a shame really, but I guess if players did grow there would be glitches with 15 year old 6'2 players ending up being 7ft or something. Would be quite an interesting thing if it happened though. THE ideal target man.

I've often seen young regens grow in height especially the shortest ones though max 2cm (ie 1 inch I believe) like from 166cm to 168. Curiously some regens also seem to lose weight as they get older!

Don't take my word for it, but I'm sure I've seen some of regens grow before, not by much though.

Young players will grow. At the age of 15 you have not reached your peak height, so your players should continue to grow until they are about 18-19.

Look at my below screenshots of one of my young players as an example.

Strange that jumping didn't change. Heading is understandable as it may reflect heading timing and aiming. But jumping? You should jump higher if you are taller.. Unless it reflects jumping direction and jumping timing..

Yeah that is strange. Pretty sure "Jumping Reach" alludes to how high you can jump, including height. So if his height increases his reach should increase by a few inches and thus his stat, so that is an unusual one!

Player got 14 kg's heavier too so could argue that that could have had an impact on the jumping stat increasing (doubt it though).

Players do sometimes grow, I've had regens grow a few centimetres, but nothing more than that.

Perhaps it's because growing 3 inches to 5"9 makes very little difference to your ability in an aerial duel. How high can a footballer with 20 Jumping jump? 4 feet? Higher? (The world record for a standing jump is just under 5 feet.) I would expect a growth of 3 inches to add at most one point to jumping ability. Technique is more important than height.

As to why he didn't get that one point, perhaps he just doesn't try as hard to get himself off the ground as he did at 15. And as Daz mentioned, he's filled out quite a lot if he's put on 2 stone.

1. Players do grow taller.
2. Tutors help a lot esp in the mentality (second option) - improves personality of the tutee. Google FM Player Personalities and you ll get a list of the positive personalities available (in descending order of, erm, goodness) for guidance. Also CLEON (a legend with FM) has an awesome thread on how AJAX player development/training meets real life which can be used with any team really. I also say a few things in the last posts of this thread (where I even have list of potential tutors - such as the top one goes by the name of ILIASU SHILLA): http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/foot...506-ask-uncle-mad-uncle-mads-box-choccys.html
3. If player improves his determination stats (or others relating to his personality his other stats will get a better, faster boost.
