Liverpool football club would today like to announce that 61 year old fulham manager Roy hodgson would be taking over as manager of the club.They have stressed that he is the right man for the job following Rafael benitez's disastrous campaign last season.Although he would have little money to spend they felt that hodgson would be able to return Liverpool to the pinnacle of English football.

Roy Hodgson is quoted as saying his minimum task this season was to get into the top four and then build from there.It is belived to be a tough task with the likes of Aston villa and everton also vying for that spot. Not to mention Premier league big spenders manchester city who have spent big again this summer and current 4th place holders tottenham hotspur.

With no games at the weekend Liverpool went straight into the second leg with the momentum from the first although conceding they were much better than in the first game and the only thing stopping this from becoming a cricket score line was their keeper who although he conceded 4 goals got a rating of 9.1.

Last league game of august was a difficult trip to wigan.Although being very disappointed and outplayed liverpool managed to scrape a win with N'gog scoring a thumping header from joe cole's cross.

Injury Update
Fernando Torres returned from injury only to be delayed his debut this season by a sprained ankle just before the wigan game

Although we have a lot of injuries all of them should be back for the first match after the international break versus Manchester city.

My monthly thoughts
All of the new signings have performed well if not great with the exception of Jorge valdivia.
Many injuries but the team performed well with injuries to key players such as Gerrard , Torres and kuyt
