A new player in need of help

Hi all, i am new to the football manager series and am having difficulty finding a winning tactic to use for my Newcastle team. After 3 matches i have drawn one and lost two and no matter what i do i am never able to get anywhere lose to winning games. If you more experienced players have any advice for a complete FM beginner it would be greatly appreciated.

My team is as follows:
CF- Ameobi (Advanced forward)
CF- Carroll (Target man)
ML-Jonas (Winger)
MC- Smith (Centre mid, defend)
MC- Barton(Box to Box)
MR- Weiss (Wide mid)
DL- Insua (Support)
DC- S Taylor (Ball playing defender)
DC- Coloccini (Defend)
DR- Simpson ( Support)
GK- Harper (Sweeper Keeper)

Injuries:
Smolarek
R Taylor
Ranger
****
Guthrie

Any help at all in creating a winning team would be great, thanks in advance.

well first of all u can try to get beckham and fat ronaldo or van nistelrooy shud be on free alongside deco real soon .... plus just take ur time with each tactic u try players need time to fit in and get used to tactics, play more defensive away now for the team center two just defenders , side backs full backs automatic, middle try at home one play maker other box to box midfielder and on away change playmaker to ball wining midfielder..wingers depend on wat kind of players u got so find ur tatic tht u wud like ur team to play with .. forward try make ameobie the target man..

the tactic i used was very affective. the basic structure is 4-2-3-1

RB CB CB LB RB-LB Support CB both as plain CB's CM's both ball winning plus 1-Support 1 def
CM CM
RAM AM LAM AM as just att mid. winger attacking and winger setting
CF CF as a advanced forward.
over team mentality Control. and team structure as rigid

I play my tactics ( 4-1-1-2-2) with the classic set up and with each player with the following attacking mentality
im currenty Liverpool and wit these tactics im beating almost everyone home and away without playing defensive whilst playing away.​
