I am looking to start a new story on here and I already have 4 ideas in mind but I have no idea which one to choose. So I am leaving it up to you all to decide. The vote wont be open for long as I hope to play this game throughout the world cup.

The first story is to manage Crewe in League 1 in England. They have great youth facilities which would allow me to build my team from within which is always a good challenge but they lack quality at the start and funding which is a big problem.

The second story is to manage in Eastern Europe. I haven't decided on a team yet so ideas are welcome but I am very interested in managing there as its probably the only area on FM that I haven't managed in over the years. I'll look to build not only my team but also the league as I try to win the Champions league with ranked outsiders.

The third challenge is the famous pentagon challenge. For those that don't know the pentagon challenge it is quite simply to win all 5 continental competitions in the same save while starting as an unknown manager. A challenge I have completed before on FM 2012 but I would love to try it again as lower league management is something I enjoy more than anything else.

The final story is a story I have only heard of recently. It is the director of football challenge. In this challenge the running of the club is left entirely to the director of football and you are solely focused on working with the team they give to you. I could do this challenge in any league but I feel a european league such as spain or portugal would be best suited to this challenge although bringing this idea to England could be an interesting story.

As I said I hope to start a story soon and I am very interested in seeing what you all think I should do.

Thanks for the votes guys at the moment it looks like the director of football challenge is the one its going to be. I was wondering whether anyone has attempted this kind of challenge before and whether they have any advice on how to tackle it?

I go for Crewe - take a team with a renowned reputation for developing players and make them great. No better feeling in FM

What is the DOF challenge?

I do enjoy bringing up a team that isnt in the top division. My first save on every game is my favourite team Birmingham City and on this years FM I was able to get them from close to administration to now have more champions league wins than Real Madrid. I haven't toppled Man Utd with the number of Prem titles but I am only in the 2030's so its only a matter of time.

Its currently close between Crewe and the DoF challenge so it could end up being either one. I plan on starting it soon so there isnt much time left for it to change

What is the DOF challenge?

I tried to explain it a little in the OP but I will try to explain it a bit clearer again. You can either hire a Director of Football, DoF, or let the chairman hire one and then on staff responsibilities you give him as much power over the club as is possible so he is charge of hiring/firing staff, buying/selling players, offering contracts to current staff/players. In effect he controls the running of the club while you are more of a head coach rather than manager where you are only in control of the tactics and the match play.

Some teams in Europe are known to behave this way and it has been tried in England before with Comolli at Tottenham and Kinnear at Newcastle. I still haven't decided on which team I would do this with so I could try and bring this method to England or maybe go and manage around Europe

It looks as though its going to be either a Crewe story or the DoF challenge. I will be starting this story tomorrow so whoever has the most votes tomorrow will be the story I start

Looking at the votes the Crewe story has beaten the DoF challenge by only 1 vote. I have therefore decided to start a story with Crewe and I will be starting the story as a new thread very soon.

I have now started my story with Crewe Alexandra and I hope you all will follow how I do and you are all more than welcome to comment on the thread about anything you wish to.

Its look as though both the Crewe story and the DoF challenge have interest in them so I will be starting both of them as separate stories and I will continue whichever one I enjoy more. If I enjoy both of them I have no problem with running two stories at the same time

I have recently finished my first season with Crewe and while I havent put the entire season up yet you can all have a look at how it is going here.

As I have now finished my first season with Crewe I will be starting a DoF challenge story very shortly I was wondering whether anybody wanted to see me do it with a particular team or in a particular league though before I do start this?
