Several of my other stories have been... left unfinished, but this is a story I would like to take a long way!

'Young manager Jamie Deasy will be taking control of Sheffield United F.C, after the departure of former manager Nigel Clough, having had playing spells with Aldershot Town and Coventry City. This is his first post as manager and comes as a surprise appointment by the Sheffield United board as he has no backroom experience and has only recently gained his qualifications.'

Season Expectations: Playoffs
Transfer Budget: 1.5m
Wage Budget: 104k per week

Pre-season:
I shall do pre-season all in one go as I wont give match reports on the friendlies:

As I only had one scout at the club currently I set about bringing in some others:

Barry Poynton:

Ian Storey-Moore:

Barry Whitbread:

Gavin Tait:

Eddie Presland:

Nothing remarkable here - although Barry Poynton does look very good for a small wage!

Although it appears to have been a very poor pre-season (especially the 5-0 loss to Rochdale), there were some good performances and many players were nowhere near match fitness - however key players turned in some poor showings which is why I think the fixtures seem to have gone so badly. We were very competitive with Boca however, and were denied a late equaliser by the crossbar!
Transfers:

Very few out (only Otis Kahn on loan) I had tried to offload some players but no one were willing to come in at acceptable prices so they will have to stay as backups - at least until January!

Regarding transfers in:

Jason Twum

Young winger for the future, aiming for a good Championship winger, but perhaps more with the right training! He washed out from the Millwall youth system and I snapped him up for a grand fee of 0 pounds!

Dean Santangelo:

Washed out of the Man Utd youth system, another young lad for the future - this time a goalie also brought in for 0 pounds!

Aaron Martin:

Former Southampton youth who could be fighting for a starting place at centre back as soon as this season!

Herita Ilunga:

Another free transfer as our team was very lacking at LB and despite his advancing years he will be very useful this season

Lee Holmes:

Got him from Preston 800k which is a bargain as he is regarded as a good player for Championship sides!

Good squad depth and I have a number of good striking options!

Start of the season comes next update- probably will be going month by month - thanks for reading!

Start of the Season - August 2013

August 2014

Sheffield United
0 - 3 Notts County
Hugely disappointing first match, we were dominated in possession and shots - just got to hope it is a minor blip!

Capital One Cup:
Sheffield United 4 - 2 Carlisle United
Callum McFadzean, playing left mid, scored a great hat-trick to rescue us as we threw away a 2 goal lead. Much more encouraging though! However Florent Cuvelier, one of my key players in CM, picked up a fractured jaw early on and he is now out for 4-5 weeks. :/

Sheffield United draw Newcastle away in the Capital One Cup Second Round.

Brentford 0-1 Sheffield United
We could have won this game by 3 or 4, as their goalie had a great game and we missed a few sitters!

Sheffield United 2-1 Colchester
Given a controversial penalty, which I'm not going to complain about!

Bradford 1-2 Sheffield United
A penalty and an own goal won it for me - not particularly pleased with the performance but at least we got the 3pts!

Capital One Cup 2nd Round:
Newcastle
3-1 Sheffield United
We put up a decent fight and had some chances but Newcastle were always heavy favourites and Shola had a good game.

Sheffield United 2-2 MK Dons
Draw against a good team is not a bad result but a missed penalty by my veteran Jamaican striker Marlon King makes it a bit disappointing!

Overall not a bad month - players still getting used to the formation as I made the mistake of not scheduling enough pre season friendlies to up familiarity - not great performances however and this month nobody was spectacular: which is why there will be no player of the month for August - not good enough lads!

League Table:

5th is not a bad place to be - about in line with our expectations, although I am hoping to push for automatic promotion this season! Also hoping results will improve as player performances improve!

Thanks for reading once again and any feedback or critique is greatly appreciated! Thanks
